Excited for Tropico 6? Here's a new trailer to keep you going
27 Aug 2017 at 4:10 pm UTC

I will most likely get it. I have over 200 hours in Tropico 5 and enjoyed the campaigns. I wish that 6 will be better for playing multiplayer. While it can be done in 5, it's very clear that single player is the better experience. So I hope for both solid single player and multiplayer.

Quoting: wleoncioHave you considered the Logitech Driving Force GT? I think it's a great first wheel, works with pretty much every racing game I've tried (only exception: ETS 2 has wrong range and no FF, but it's fixed with a package provided by the developer) and you can get a used one for 50 USD.
Thanks for the recommendation, but sadly it has no clutch pedal and while I'm not sure if it would matter that much I'm afraid it would kind of feel wrong, at least if I'm going to use the stick shifter. If I could get that exact wheel with three pedals I'd probably be a happy camper, but it seems like gaming accessory companies know how to segment their market for maximum profit. :/

Quoting: ArthurI might quite possibly get it. Maybe I should get a wheel first though...? Dirt Rally is difficult with just a keyboard.
Analog controls are a must unless you're playing a very simplistic arcade racer. A decent gamepad does the job, but a wheel does it better. Their accuracy, range and more natural feedback will definitely give you an edge.
Yep, it kinda worked with Dirt 3 and not the most realistic difficulty. Dirt Rally, even with the optional assistance, is probably five times more difficult.

I've been considering getting the Logitech G29 but it's quite pricey - about 360 USD where I live (not in the US). Unsure whether it would be worth it.

Ryan "Icculus" Gordon is looking for new games to port to Linux, pay not required

I know these requests are not useful, but an indie game that is probably a one man job to port would be Dungeon of the Endless. Playing this with friends at times using Windows.

Quoting: KetilMultiplayer in freeciv was of the better I have tried, having the turns at the same time, and only wait if one player need longer than another player.
Civ has concurrent turns since Civ V, which makes it a quite good multiplayer experience. Still not better than MOO2.
Just wanted to reiterate that Civ 5 (and probably 6 too) has game options allowing concurrent turns. However, if you're more than 3 players games seem to take ages to finish if at all, because sometimes people need more time or they are "chess playing", always trying to do the optimal thing each turn which quickly eats up time. Not to mention the more players you are, the harder it is to get everyone playing at the same time again later. Nearly always someone with other commitments.

Airship combat game Guns of Icarus Alliance released as a standalone game
5 Apr 2017 at 10:11 pm UTC

Played it a bit in the early days but found it repetitive and lacking in depth. So did my friends, so we haven't played it for a couple years. I'd actually want to retry it but not sure I can get my friends on board and without them there's no use.

Oh and forgot to say that if they had released this as a free update the chances of getting my friends to retry it with me would probably have been higher, but I highly doubt any of us will spend more money on a game we didn't find particularly fun after the initial fascination with the concept.

Mantis Burn Racing, an awesome looking top-down racer could come to Linux with enough support

Quoting: FraaarghIt reminds me a little of Ignition / Fun Tracks recently released on GOG for Linux ( which I also do not know if playable split screen): https://www.gog.com/game/ignition [External Link]
Used to play Ignition a lot and it did indeed support split screen so I expect it still does.

Regarding this game, I am interested indeed. Can't promise anything but it's a good chance I'll get it if a Linux version happens.

Cossacks 3 for Linux has been delayed, yet again

No problem with it either, I have several games I've barely touched though I guess I'm more hyped for Cossacks.

Quoting: throghAnother open-source game on Steam? I don't get it: It only shows up where the major problem is ... people only pay when having a game on their shiny, proprietary platform. In fact this is one worse signal: Instead getting support with donations, ideas, documentation and code, many open-source projects just copy and involve proprietary services. A change of paradigms is therefore very far away and the local installation is nothing more than another "Windows" or "MacOS" bound to many external services!
You seem to hate choice when the choice is not one you would make (using Steam).
