I think one could ask for a refund if the game is now on sale, I don't know how long does it take to Steam to review the case though, I just did it for Mad Max because here in Argentina every dollar counts and just today I bought the game hours before the sale and still din't played it, so I will report if had any success with it.

I've tested it under playonlinux with 1.9.16-staging 64bit without changing the Windows version from XP to 7 and works perfect.
