Interview With The Developers Of Cossacks 3, Which Is Coming To Linux
4 Aug 2015 at 8:06 pm UTC

I'm really curious about performance. The game seems pretty enough and they claim that it will be running with no problem on 3-5 year hardware. With up to 10 000 units on a maps my guess it will be really taxing on the CPU. Then he said they've used OpenGL which I was under the impression was not particularly great at multi-threaded performance being an aging technology. The can't be using Vulcan as it's not released yet. Either the game does not look as good as it seems or they're put some serious optimization effort into it. Which is obviously commendable.
Other than that they were pretty open and straight about how things are. I understand why a GOG release may not happen. I also respect the honest answer that the Linux release it more marketing than profit motivated.

The Linux Port Of Arma 3 Is "Promising"

Interesting. Maybe VP have improved their wrapper yet still. Honestly, I'm very curious about their ports and wrapper, as I see them as the only realistic way for most Windows games to find their way to Linux.

Virtual Programming Have Been Busy, Looks Like They Are Doing The Arma 3 Port

I haven't played it personally, not my cup of tea, but it is pretty much legendary as to how baddly CPU bottlenecked it is. Somebody thought it would be a great idea to make a multi-player oriented game with huge open spaces run on a single core. What could go wrong? So, be prepared to a crappy performance no matter who does the port.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Released For Linux, We Love You Feral Interactive

Good news indeed. Sadly with AMD not supported and Crossfire being a chimera in Linux, I'm basically forced to play it in Windows. Then again that goes almost all games... Hope it runs good on Nbidia hardware, none-the-less.

Aspyr Media Are Teasing A New Launch Tomorrow

Ahahahahah... GTA V... NO!!! :))). This is isn't even in the area of delusion, people. A 500 million dollar game getting ported for 1% of the audience. They'd never be able to get their money back. I'm guessing most you of hoping, haven't actually played the game. It's a huuuuuge world and a very complex one at that. Porting it to a new platform is positively a big effort. Just consider - it took two years for the Windows port. I have half a mind that Rockstar wouldn't bother with a Linux port even if Steam OS turns out to be the best thing since sliced bread.

But just so you don't blame me for never speculating - here is a thought. Fallout 4 is coming out on November 10th. So is the Steam controller and the Steam Machines. Valve already has a working relationship with Bethesda since they became partners in crime with the mod fiasco this spring. Who knows what surprises might come up come November.

Feeling Angry? Hatred Looks Like It Will Come To Linux

No, seriously, guys. Beyond moral quarrels about the game, as a game it sucks. I've yet to see a positive review, even from people who supported it being released on steam. The only thing the game has going on for itself is ultra violence. But cheap shock value can keep your interest for so long. This is not GTAV.

Crusader Kings II: Horse Lords Expansion Released

Quoting: slaapliedjeI really want to find time to play this game, but I first have to find to learn how to play it! Definitely one of the more complicated games to learn.

But I have a lot of their other games as well, just haven't had time to play 'em. Looks so very fun.
It does seem like that way in the beginning, but after you get the hand of it it feels very simple (not dull, mind you). Especially if you compare it with EUIV, for example.

Thoughts On The Final Steam Controller
10 Jul 2015 at 8:16 pm UTC

I'll be the party pooper as usual and point out it's unlikely that devs will rush at the idea of fixing the UI scaling for TVs. Windows has been dominating the market for decades and they haven't bothered, so why would they for a brand new OS. Still, maybe the 1440p and 4K gaming might bring about the needed change, though the latter is still a few years away IMO.

ARK: Survival Evolved Released For Linux, Here's An Early Look & Thoughts

Quoting: Beamboom
Quoting: staticx27Saw it was released for Linux and I jumped at it. Wish I would have actually of read the article first.
It's not released at all yet. It's Early Access. That means people pay to be beta testers.
An idiotic concept I wish no one supported.
Except for all of the Early Access games that are actually worth it, like Starbound for example. Following that thread of though Kistarter is even more idiotic because there you pledge money to a concept, not even a beta. You know - that same platform that made Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity, Torment, Start Citizen and Divinity: Original Sin possible.

AMD's New R9 Graphics Cards Will Support Vulkan & OpenGL 4.5

Nothing AMD offers at the moment is a viable competitor for Nvidia hardware in Linux. My 290x is virtually useless.
