Nvidia 375.20 stable driver released, increases OpenGL shader cache size and more

Quoting: LordpkappaStill no problem here with 375.20.
No crash or rendering errors, but i have only 2 games right now in the system, Dawn Of War 2 with expansion and Rocket League.
I had no noticeable problems in Rocket League, but Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is completely unplayable.
I also have a very noob-ish question, but what's the best way to roll back the drivers in Antergos?
look in /var/cache/pacman/pkg/ for a cached version of your previous drivers. ls nvidia* - then use sudo pacman -U <drivers>
This should be 4 different files, the base driver file then libgl, settings and utils for the version you want to use.

another method is using downgrade or downgrader both use slightly different methods. downgrade generally will give a list. I used the pacman -U method to revert back to 375.10 for now. since this version has worked fine for me.
Thank you for your response. I'll give that a shot later, today.

It seems that the common denominator is the use of Plasma or a DE that uses Open GL. What is your desktop?
Can confirm Plasma desktop user with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided problems.

Alienware manager on Steam Machines lull: Windows 10 changed things

Quoting: scaineThe occasional indie game might be badly packaged, but it's rare. Windows requires a lot more nit-picky stuff to get games running than Linux. On Linux, you double click and the game launches. On Windows, it launches two, sometimes three, separate launchers - directX, .net framework at least.
No, this is not how it works on Windows. The only time I see multiple windows pop up is during an installation procedure the first time it runs. Even UPlay has gotten less intrusive. Yes, it's still another layer of DRM, but it's gotten much better. Once the game is fully installed, it runs on a button click.

Quoting: scaineThen, if it's AAA, you might find that the game doesn't launch, or has terrible performance until you update your graphics driver. If anything goes wrong after that, the stock support answer is "update your graphics driver, update your computer" and until you do that, you're stuck.
To be fair it's almost always best to run the latest drivers in any operating system. I've never had a game not launch on day one, even before downloading the latest driver updates.

Quoting: scaineAnd until a few years ago, when they started asking for the directx output, they didn't even have an established way to get information pertinent to fixing your issue.
I've never gotten to this point. I've gamed on PC since the original Doom, and I've never had to call a company to give them any kind of log file because my game didn't start. Not saying it doesn't happen, I've just never experienced it.

Quoting: scaineSure, Linux gaming has less performance, and sure, we're missing a few triple-A titles, I might have bought. But it's a whole lot more reliable and consistent than my fifteen years experience of gaming on Windows.

I don't miss it at all, and luckily, no game will ever have the ability to make me reconsider Windows as an option. That ship has sailed.
That's fantastic that you're so committed to Linux, I've recently decided to dual boot because I'm sick of the built in spyware from Microsoft, however, Windows gaming is not as you describe it.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided patch release for Linux, enables Breach mode

Quoting: MyeulCHowever, I really want to show some support. Should I buy it now?
Definitely hold off until you have a proper rig. By that time a few more performance patches may trickle down, and there may even be a sale.
This is definitely a demanding game to run, especially on Linux. I wouldn't try it on anything less than a GTX 1060 or RX480. I had to upgrade my GTX 760 to get it to be playable.
As far as the game goes, I'm very much enjoying it. So definitely plan on picking it up, later!

Feral Interactive's Linux ports may come with Vulkan sooner than we thought (UPDATED)
28 Oct 2016 at 1:47 pm UTC

In the near future, I'd like to see Vulkan make use of multiple GPU's. Right now, the main reason I play the Linux titles I own in Windows is because of SLI support.

Don't worry, I know the rules on buying from the Linux platform and playing it for a week on there to make sure it counts as a Linux sale ;)

The 'SMACH Z' gaming handheld is back on Kickstarter, no longer using SteamOS but their own Linux version

The first time I saw the new ad with Castle Crashers, I thought that it was signs of a Linux port :| . It's a nice machine, but for the cost of around $300 USD? That seems a bit too much. Also, I just don't know that the performance is going to be there for Linux, unless they've been working very closely with AMD.

This project seems very lofty. If Valve had so much trouble launching a custom Linux gaming box with their own distribution, I have less faith in this company. I feel like SteamOS/Stephenson's Rocket should have been optimized for the SmachZ as a collaborative effort rather than their own distro. I suppose time will tell, but at least there's a lot of work being done for open source platforms either way.
