Quoting: michaWondering how long it will take to at a stage in Steam shipped Proton to run `Death Stranding` (which requires DX12)? :unsure:Death Stranding will ship with Denuvo as well. It could take some time for it to be playable with Steam Play.
(Wen't against all reasoning and pre-ordered it on Steam knowing that I may never by able to play it on PC. Or at least no anytime soon. Loved the PS4 version so much though that I'm fine seeing it as a donation to Kojima Productions worst case...)
Play as a huge corporation in the just announced Stellaris: MegaCorp expansion

Quoting: liamdaweI don't mind this model myself, but I think their implementation could be better (mainly by older content getting cheaper). For example 251,58€ to get Europa Universalis IV with all the DLC is just too much.Quoting: Purple Library GuyYeah, I grow tired of this too but we do have to remember we have thousands of users registered. Most people don't look at older articles.Quoting: antisolAnother Stellaris DLC?Oh, for crying out loud. This is how Paradox does things and this argument has been hashed out dozens of times. Isn't it about time people bloody got used to it?
People buy the new Call of Duty/Battlefield/x sequel all the time, why is it any different to picking up an expansion to extend a game you already love, with even more to love? By doing so, you get to spend even more time with something you enjoy, the developers continue to work on it with free content on top of expansion and it ends up as a win for both sides.

Also, from my point of view, those threats to make the image format public were completely unnecessary. Even if the game devs were being asses, those threats would have not sat well with me.

Quoting: Smoke39You are correct, but I also agree with what Hendricks266 stated. That pastebin bit does not look like "was met with outright hostility" is what happened.Quoting: Hendricks266mos6510, please quit misrepresenting our studio with malicious half-truths.I don't think mos was coming from a position of disrespect so much as an honest misconception of the licensing, and a misunderstanding of your intentions. In the log you posted, you said "You can explore when the full game is out" once, and the rest of your conversation seems to be against modding -- presumably specifically in the context of the preview, but that didn't really seem explicitly clear to me, so to me it kinda reads as mixed messages.

Some thoughts on Valve’s new Steam Play feature and what it means for Linux gaming

I don't know if these have been asked or pointed out already, but here goes.
Will Valve disable Steam Play for titles that are being ported by someone (for example Feral, Aspyr, etc)? I can see that disabling it on an old game is not a good idea, but it would be reasonable for unreleased titles with an upcoming port.
Then there's the question about Linux sales through Steam Play while a port of the game is being worked on. I think they should receive their cut of those as well, but only after a functioning port has been released.
I think these two questions are important for the future of porting studios.

If wanted to get into Europa Universalis IV, I would definitely want to get all of the DLCs (other than skin packs etc.). That's solely for the reason how Stellaris DLCs have greatly improved the game.
Here's the problem though: The normal price for complete Europa Universalis IV pack is nearly 300€. For this reason alone, I've been holding off buying the game. I think the maximum should be around 100€ to get the game and existing DLCs.

Quoting: liamdaweI agree with their approach but not with their pricing.Quoting: libgradevThis is what I find interesting though, you're not forced to buy the DLC, you can likely buy the base game and be content with the many hours it would bring you. Once it feels stale, pick up one the major DLC and so on. Paradox strategy games are generally full of content to keep you busy without expansions.Quoting: liamdaweTotally appreciate the support Paradox has given to the Linux gaming scene.Quoting: libgradevI think their approach is one of the best personally.Quoting: buenaventuraso Paradox, expect me to buy some DLC real soon!I don't think their approach to DLC helps them personally... I own Stellaris but I've held fire on buying the DLC as they *just keep coming* and this seems to be a recurring theme...
For these titles I tend to wait for a 'collector's edition'.
They have seriously long-term support for their games, more so than the vast majority of developers. Pushing out DLC (that is not required) enables them to continue getting funds for each team working on each game, plus they always do a free content patch with each DLC.
I've got very limited time to play a game nowadays (I appreciate your job allows the freedom to re-visit titles) I'm fortunate to get a single visit! I don't want to buy thinking there is likely to be 5+, game play changing, additions to the content.

FOV isn't that important for me as I don't get motion sickness and I've never had problems with FOV myself, but I'm not that happy about their comments about it. If they had better attitude about it, I would almost certainly buy this game. But for now I'm going to keep an eye on it.

Quoting: KelsUgh, here's the dev's response to someone asking if they can change FoV:At least they are going to add a possibility to rebind keys and inverting mouse Y-axis, which I asked myself as inverting Y-axis is really important for me. I've always played FPS games like that.
Sorry. We set the optimal FOV that more conviniant for Cradle world. An answer like that suggests that they not only haven't put in an option to change it, they're actively resistant to doing so. My interest in the game has dropped considerably.
You can not change FOV.
