Quoting: devlandDoes the GOG version have the map editor? Does it work on Linux?

Can you get new skirmish maps outside of Steam for the GOG version?
a) Seems like the modding tools are not available for Linux, be it Steam or GOG.
b) There are a few websites from where to get mods outside of Steam.
c) Up until v1.07 (on GOG), the Linux version is missing the mods button the Windows one has (I don't know how is it on Steam).

About Mod tools: From what I saw in the devs tutorial videos, the modding tools are just a collection of Unity Editor files, you could download those files using the Windows Steam client and importing them using the Unity Linux editor, a hassle but could work.

Quoting: Avehicle7887I wonder if they added the missing graphic effects in the Linux version.
Were they missing? I didn't really notice. But I didn't compare either.
Some soft glow effect makes the lights look better. I sent a comparison pic to the devs on Steam. I tried searching it so I can link it here but I can't find the thread. I'm out atm, will re upload it when I get home.

Quoting: GuestShitty GOG galaxy that’s required for multiplayer… that’s so stupid :(. Why can’t they provide a lib for multiplayer? It makes no sense that they force a download client for multiplayer.
You don't need Galaxy for MP, there's LAN and if you want to play with someone from outside your house, there's VPN* for that, so either way you still get online MP without depending on GOG/Steam/Nasa...etc.

VPN note*: You can create your own VPN using NeoRouter [External Link] which lets your create your own server and in turn others connect to you directly (no middleman technique like good old Hamachi). It's also cross platform compatible so your Windows friends can join in regardless.

Quoting: Avehicle7887Just like Battletech, this is another game I won't buy. Pre order exclusive content + delayed Linux release is bad marketing.
Turning away from a Linux game, because it had a release delay is to be blunt, idiotic. That's a sure fire way to ensure we get low Linux sales, I really hope that attitude is a minority.

I don't want anyone to take this the wrong way, but it's a fact that our market share and sales figures for Linux games aren't turning any heads and it will continue to do so if people take this sort of stance. There's many complicated reasons for a delayed Linux release, half the time I'm sure people just don't even stop to think how for a team of often 1 or 2 people, additional platforms support overhead alone can cause sleepless nights...

As for pre-order bonuses, I am however right with you on that. I think pre-order bonuses are utter nonsense.

Edit: spelling
Rereading my own message it (most likely) seems I expressed myself the wrong way.

What I meant was that Pre Order Exclusives and delayed Linux releases don't go hand in hand, because it's unfair for Linux users as they usually buy games when a Linux version is out not before.

In no way I meant I'm against delayed Linux releases, especially since I spend so much on them already. I also pre-order many Linux games that come with pre-order exclusives.

I hope that is more clear to what I meant ;)

I'm pretty much divided in 2 with GOG, on one side I love them, great people and great support for Linux games that make it to the store. On the other hand the lack of Galaxy on Linux is even affecting singleplayer games and that is what I'm not happy about.

Linux versions of classic title The Dame Was Loaded and Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight now on GOG

It's kinda weird how I love metroidvania games but never played Metroid or Castlevania themselves. I'm in the process of finishing Hollow Knight lately, Momodora will be next :-)

I'm still on the fence for this game, it has been on sale like a few hundred times already, I like strategy/building games but I'm not sure what do you exactly do in this.
