Sure, but they also have to fund all the technical and logistical aspect of the tournament, the video production, the servers, the staff, etc.

It's probably a LOT of money.

Aren't we missing some "features" with d9vk though, since it's DirectX9 and not DirectX 10, 11, 12?

Could it be that it's faster because of those missing "features"?

I think Kompressor (the Marble it Up! dev in the steam forum) gave a decent and honest comment. They certainly sound like they know what they're talking about. I wouldn't dismiss their comment. :)

This game is absolutely brilliant, and the new duo mode is really excellent. Sometimes I was playing alone though, not sure what's up about that (perhaps it's chosen randomly).

Valve broke the steam-native package on Arch Linux (and Arch-based distros).
