Valve update desktop Steam Stable Client with the New Big Picture Mode option

Quoting: wurschtithanks for the post, Liam. Just curious, does the bottom bar stay completely black, or is that a screenshot issue?
On the Steam Deck, that place is reserved for the control hints.
It should show the controls, but it's likely in that shot I wasn't focusing on any UI element with the mouse.

I'm going to put this down to some sort of Deck Verified testing issue that isn't taking Proton Experimental into account.
Should it take Experimental into account? I personally think for a casual consumer home console, expecting your average user to understand different versions of the backend compatibility layer is too much complexity. It's easy to understand for us "power users", but your average kid who just wants to play Minecraft on the go or tired father who just wants to install a game after work and play for an hour just simply doesn't care about that sort of thing.

Same reason 99% of people won't go to Mastadon despite the Twitter situation, despite it being the "Twitter killer", because something as simple as "pick a server" is still way too much work for your average user imo.
As I mentioned, they already do this for other titles. There's also Proton Hotfix, another separate version, that they also automatically set. It's not about user needing to know, it's all automatic if you haven't forced a Proton version.

For this, you will need to ensure you have up to date drivers, they said any Vulkan 1.2 capable driver and Wine version are required now
The release announcement mentions Vulkan 1.3, not 1.2
Fixed, thanks for the note, glad I caught this comment. In future, be sure to send a correction instead so we don't miss it.

Quoting: CaenthAm I the only one that thinks it looks horrible? It looks very blurry, you can hardly read the quest text on the top right.
That seems to be some weird bug with smaller text (but only some), the majority of the text (minus that and the other line in the bottom left corner) seems fine. However, I've found a mod that let's you adjust text size and it seems to work great for the important bits, I've videod the steps to do it and will have a guide video up tomorrow.

Sonic Frontiers works on Steam Deck and Linux desktop although it has issues
8 Nov 2022 at 4:54 pm UTC

Quoting: TiZThanks to your tweaks, I'm having a much better time playing Sonic Frontiers on Deck, and I don't think I'll have to refund it and buy it on another platform. I wouldn't have thought to try dropping the in-game framerate down to 30FPS.
Glad to know it helped! :)
