Quoting: jpIt's just become a generic term used by some to mean it will have a native build, no need to think deep into it.Quoting: Liam DaweI've actually seena a few Unity games end up with a .exe name for the Linux build. The filename means nothing.Yes, I saw it too. In Vaporum for example.
That is not the point, but "native port".
Port is either there or not.
All games on crossplatform engines (Unity, Unreal etc) are builds, not ports.

The reason Humble will want account linking for freebies is likely to prevent them just going up on key reseller sites.

What is meant "native" + "port"??
And "Encase.exe" on top panel strongly inspires the hope of the adequacy of these developers. LOL.
Liquidation is a new tactical RTS that looks and feels a bit like classic Dawn of War

Quoting: RossBCI hope blizzrd doesn't come after them looks like they pulled models from warcraft/world of warcraft and starcraft then proceeded to mash them up together then tweeked them a tiny bit. There's only so many ways you can do these sci-fi fantasy types in the kinds of armour they wear. It's very clearly inspired but there's a lot of clear differences to see. I've played huge amounts of StarCraft I/II and Dawn of War and can still easily enough tell the uniqueness here.

Quoting: CatKillerAnecdotally, with people having done more working from home recently, they don't necessarily want to be tethered to the same machine for entertainment. Being able to do PC gaming while flopped on the sofa could be quite attractive to them. That's quite literally me and why I would love such a device.

Quoting: CatKillerOn shader compilation: Steam already downloads pre-compiled shaders if your machine has a familiar configuration. This would definitely have a familiar configuration, so it shouldn't have to compile its own shaders for games from Steam.Downloads yes, but then you have to wait while it does the processing. Sometimes that can end up taking quite some time, if people get impatient and are able to click through it, welcome to stutterfest. It might not be an issue but it's worth thinking on.

Added a further paragraph for online gaming, as it's totally needed to think on.

I stand by what I said there. The market for portable PC gaming handhelds has nowhere near hit the proper mainstream yet.

Quoting: BeamboomI was quite surprised to see this rather odd claim. Infancy?? I would rather say the direct opposite: That this is a market that's long past the adult years of its life span. Hand held consoles USED to be big. PSP, anyone? We're not talking traditional consoles, we're talking what's basically a portable PC here.

Quoting: hardpenguinSo I take that you did not particularly liked it as there was no positive feedback from you in the article :PI have not put enough time into it to form a proper decision really, or had others to play with to get a better feel for what the experience will be like when it's more open, which it is now.

Quoting: ageresI don't see any demo there. Or is it 'Liquidation Playtest'?Yes that's it.
Quoting: d10sfanThere does not appear to be a demo for Linux. There is a playtest but downloading it gives no files at all. So looks like Linux is not supported for the demo/playtest.They're currently hooking up the depot correctly, so it might not download just yet. Will be fixed very soon hopefully.
Edit: fixed, it's there now.
