How-to: upscale old games on Linux
11 Apr 2020 at 4:49 pm UTC

Quoting: WorMzyI'm not sure what this has to do with Lutris? All the tools involved appear to be standalone, and any game helper that allows you to set your own launch parameters could use them, no?
Lutris is practically a well-known "brand name" type of thing at this point. More to the point, it's what the author uses to have the game setup and running. No different to articles like "do x on Ubuntu" or "do y on Fedora" - it's all about the name, and associations that come with it.

Quoting: GuestThat, and lower priced games. What's there is a tad....expensive, though I am tempted to give Tomb Raider a go at £8. Yes I have it via Steam (and Feral) already, but it can be worth the cost just for the sake of additional testing. I'll consider it for a few days anyway.
The only reason I picked up The Division 2, was because it went down to like £8. As additional testing, it's an interesting game to try. Honestly, I can't tell the difference between it and any local game and I've put quite a few hours into it now.

Quoting: VadiNot seeing the 1.5.1 update here on Linux just yet.
Looks like 1.5.1 was rolled back on all platforms due to a serious crash bug on Windows, Linux at least is on-par though at 1.5 now.

Quoting: vskyeAny reason the like button is replaced with a bookmark tag?
It has not, the bookmark button is entirely separate, some plugins (hello adblock plus) seem to block our like button based on the CSS style class name. We've already been in touch [External Link] with them about it. Other plugins that use similar block lists are likely also doing it.

Ps. For site issues, please use the forum not a random article.

Humble Store has a big 'City Builder' sale going with lots of time consuming goodies cheap

Quoting: NeoTheFoxIf anyone haven't given Surviving Mars a try yet I can highly recommend it! It's an amazing game from the Tropico devs, and it's really great, I don't think I've seen a city builder quite like it.
Agreed, it's quite surreal how engrossing it is, especially with Green Planet.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyOverall, people seem to be experiencing a huge range of workability, from totally awesome to totally sucks and everything in between. I'm getting the feeling that whether it works great or sucks depends partly on internet speeds, but also to a big extent on luck of the draw in terms of how far your server is from you.
Yeah, it's lots of different factors. If Google well and truly stick it out for the long term though, it will only get better of course as they get more of their own routing closer to people in more countries, and as ISPs improve their own tech and so on. For a lot of people, the tech is already there, for a lot of people it's also the opposite. Like everything: it's not for everyone.

Quoting: Ehvis- Can't get the games/stadia/chromium to vsync so I get tearing.
That's likely some sort of compositor issue on your end, since it's basically just video.

Quoting: SystemShockHi, maybe i got that all wrong but i don't think that this is the free "1080p only" "Stadia-Base-Version" we're all waiting for.
It's only Stadia-Pro free for 2 Months.
After that it'll cost again 9,99.

pls correct me if im wrong...
Correct. But if you don't pay after two months, you'll effectively have base left as you'll still be able to access your bought games. And I highly doubt they would close the store to you after that, but current former pro owners could confirm that.
When your Pro ends, you automatically go onto Stadia Base and it acts like a normal store.
