Primal Light looks like a fantastic action platformer coming to Linux, made in Godot

Quoting: DuncThe visuals are very reminiscent of early Psygnosis (Agony, Shadow of the Beast), aren't they? The gameplay could be a lot of things, though. Hard to place what it might remind you of.
Ah ha, those are the types of titles I was thinking of, just couldn't put a name to it :)

Quoting: ageresI cannot control the camera in the photo mode for some reason.
Also, there is a cell shading option, looks nice.
You have to hold down left mouse button to pan the camera.

Quoting: hammahUnrelated to the conversation at hand, but I stumbled over the word “titbit” in the first sentence. Personally I hadn’t seen it written like this before, but only as “tidbit” i.e. with a “d” instead of a “t”. Believe it or not this was the reason for creating an account with GOL.

In any case if anyone is interested, apparently both forms exist, but according to Merriam-Webster, the notation with a “t” is less common:

Thus ends my first contribution to this fabulous site...:D
I'll be honest, it was and now is a somewhat amusing (tit) misspell on my part that just so happens to also exist and be the same thing so I lucked out :D

Frictional Games (SOMA, Amnesia) begin teasing something new

Quoting: EikeWould SOMA qualify as indie?
Why wouldn't it? Frictional developed and published it themselves.
If EA develops and publishes a 100M$ production, is it indie?
IMHO, indie is (also?) a production value question.
I'd have seen SOMA above most indies with this respect, but I'm not sure.
Frictional is a small privately owned indie company from Sweden, with only a few staff. Just because the quality of a recent game or two has been quite high, doesn't make them not indie.

EA is a publicly traded company.

Looks like EA might be banning Linux gamers using Wine to play Battlefield V

Wrong. Destiny 2 was banning Linux gamers using a literal hack to work around anti-cheat, anyone banned using it dug their own grave.
Oh, so it is safe to play? I refrained from it because of that. I think we really need a wiki page with sources on topics like these...
No, you still cannot play as it won't work.

My top 5 Linux games released in 2019, those that truly won me over

Quoting: no_information_hereLiam, I have a question (not a criticism):

Since you "have" to play so many games for review, do you find you are attracted to more Rogue-like games since they have bite-sized gameplay? I have noticed a drift in your favourites over the last while...

There are no deep, story-oriented single-player games on your list!
Good question. No it's honestly not that, my tastes just change as the years go on and while we had a few interesting story-based games this year, they just didn't hit home the way I had hoped when compared with my top 5 here. Time is really nothing to do with it. For example, it didn't make my top 5 but I played through Little Misfortune entirely in a single sitting and thought it was excellent but probably only in my top 20 of games played in 2019.

It's a bit sad not to see big releases in this list, but oh well, these games are niche but really cool. Why haven't you included Dicey Dungeons tho? I thought you liked it.
We had big releases, but they're not my favourites. Dicey is noted below the top 5. This is just a top 5, not "the only good games released". It's a personal list.

Quoting: on_en_a_grosI'm just curious, is there a way to know if my purchase is affiliated with GoL?
Unlike Humble, GOG don't show it on the store when your purchase helps a partner. However, if you use our links you should be fine. You can check if there's cookies for GOG named "pp_st" and "pp" that have "b2a10a6c3dcadb10c8ffd734c1bab896d55cf0ec" in them (the same code added to the end of our links).

I can say plenty of people do use our partner links, and they really do help us.
Thanks for the answer, the affiliate link is one of the reasons I'm using more gog lately, it's always a pleasure to help someone by buying games ^_^
Thank you for considering us :), you can find the links and others any time on the Support Us page! :)
