Quoting: gustavoyaraujoGetting EAC working with Proton/Wine is not an easy or quick task, it's still going to take a long time to get it right from what I understand. Work is ongoing though. Proton 4.11-1 [External Link] released back in July did specifically note in the changelog about it too:343 Industries included an option to turn off Easy Anti-CheatThat's something more companies could do. But hey, I think a whole year has passed since Valve announced they were working to get EAC working on Proton, am I right?
Many Wine modules are now built as Windows PE files instead of Linux libraries. As work in this area progresses, this will eventually help some DRM and anti-cheat systems. If you build Proton locally, you will likely need to re-create the Vagrant VM to build PE files.

Quoting: GrifterI said about this before, but I will say it again: I fully suspect their wording is because it will be going free to play, which is why they're saying it will be supported.Quoting: Liam DaweSeriously, where do people keep coming up with this? They did not say it would no longer be purchasable on Steam. From Psyonix, they've chosen their words carefully and said for now, until it hits EGC it will remain as is on steam, and afterwards anyone who owns it will still be able to play it on steam. Well anyway, I guess we'll see when the time comes.

Quoting: GrifterSemi-relevant: Psyonix (Rocket League) was bought by Epic, and they announced that by the end of the year it (RL) would no longer be purchasable from Steam, only epic gamestore. It would remain accessible on steam for those who already owned it, and continued to get updates etc.Seriously, where do people keep coming up with this? They did not say it would no longer be purchasable on Steam.

Quoting: derram>won't work at all due to the anti-cheat and it's likely going to take a long time before Wine gets to a stage where it can work with itPeople love to repeat this. EAC has never actually worked in Wine. Any time it did previously, was likely when EAC wasn't fully online. I've spoken to developers on this before. It has nothing to do with Epic buying EAC, don't spread it.
Wine had no problem with easy anticheat before Epic bought it and ended development of the Linux version.
This isn't a problem that Wine needs to fix, it's entirely on Epic.

Quoting: kodkucePersonally i dont like google stadia cuz long tearm its anti freedom, but for me it has one big deal going for it, they can make an exclusive game mass mass multiplayer cuz they dont need any syncing and anti cheating cuz everything is running serverside.. they can probably make a Battlefield 200vs200 easyI agree there are issues surrounding it like no backups and so on, all of which I've written about before. However, I also believe that for Linux gamers especially, this will be a big boon for multiplayer-only titles like Destiny 2.
