Update: after publishing, Valve tweaked the quoted text. It originally said "we will be shipping a beta of SteamOS which should improve the experience on other devices" but they've now changed the ending to say "other handhelds".

I wouldn't say ProtonDB was actually superior as some think. A lot of ratings are complete nosense on it, some even have completely made-up environment variables and all sorts. Both rating types have their downsides.

Deck Verified is a vitally important thing though, because there *needs* to be something for the "normies" that don't dive into Reddit comments or ProtonDB.

As noted, GamingOnLinux was on a holiday break, article posting dates are not some competition. GamingOnLinux is not about being "first", but accurate.

The numbers are odd indeed. Filtering on their instant search for both games and apps, actually gives an even higher number for 2024: 19,078.
