I get what your comment was trying to do, but it's exactly the same with mine ;).
Considering how many people repeatedly tell me they are upset with x developer breaking promises, I think it's important to highlight issues like this, especially when it's another broken promise.

Quoting: XodetaetlAs with everything I write, they are my views. I share my views on my website, people can take them or leave them. I won't shy away from my own views though, that's my purpose of being here.Quoting: liamdaweMy one pledge isn't going to make all that much differenceThat's right, but reporting in the article that you don't pledge and why you don't, does influence the many article's readers, which isn't insignificant. And that's why I replied to that, to counter this influence, not to change your mind specifically.

Quoting: omer666Also, Liam doesn't need to tell us what Kickstarter is or is not. In real life, investors turn their back on the company, they sell their stock options, and ultimately the company shuts its doors. If you want us to react this way, so be it. But I thought backing projects on Kickstarters or supporting open source systems was a bit more human than this.Money is not unlimited, especially mine. I don't personally like spending money on something that does not exist (and may never for us), when there are plenty I should be paying for and testing/reporting on that already do.

Quoting: scaineSo is this is a bit like DXRebirth, where you download the engine, then throw the paid-for assets in and it runs a high-res version of an old game? The HD packs are a separate (free) download to the paid game, but essentially yes.
I love playing Decent again through Rebirth and while I never played Freespace 2, the video alone has tempted me to try it out. Looks excellent!

My one pledge isn't going to make all that much difference, and if it is then it can't be very interesting.

Quoting: XodetaetlI buy things that exist, I don't buy on promises. Kickstarter is a written promise, nothing more. Too full of uncertainty for me, and too many bad apples have ruined it for me personally. You can feel free to pledge as you wish.I am so very glad I stopped Kickstarting Linux games a long time ago. Far, far too many broken promises. It's not the right attitude IMO. I don't remember having to wait for all the other kickstarted big RPGs (Wasteland, Pillars, Shadowrun) and without Linux users supporting those campaigns, we wouldn't have a Linux version.
If you're not happy with some studios delaying the Linux port, you can ask for a refund. Some will respond favorably to that (the devs of Consortium did in my case). The others do deserve all your hate. But avoiding crowdfunding entirely just because of them is not doing us any good.
My one pledge isn't going to make all that much difference, and if it is then it can't be very interesting.

Quoting: PicoboomYesterday's patch undid the mechanic at the heart of the microtransaction fracas: It is no longer necessary to buy drills to open safes to get skins. Drills can now drop randomly during the normal "card" sequence at the end of everyone's missions. That seems much more reasonable.
