I guess you don't use GitHub much. Go to the releases page [External Link], select a release, scroll down to the downloads under Assets. Would be a lot easier if it was just on Flathub.

There's nothing dangerous about the PPA. Just use that and be happy with it or download the .deb from their GitHub and use that.

Only Metal Gear Solid 1 is rated as Playable, the other two as noted are not and MGS1 needs no fixes to get working.

Seems odd to me.

All software comes with default configurations, including desktop environments. Distros can change them if they want, but for those that don't Wayland will be the default.
