Quoting: liamdaweWell, I read the bit you're on about and decided to let the author keep it.
I really appreciate that you're publishing opinions that (as far as I know) differ from yours.
Of course, mine isn't the only opinion, and I respect that. Everyone can do an article any time they like :).

Exactly.
I see what you did in there.
Let's not drag that into here please, you should know the difference here already, if you don't PM me.

Quoting: GuestToo bad it ends on a targetted attack on Virtual Programming. An author (nick)name would be nice, too.
Well, I read the bit you're on about and decided to let the author keep it. Personally I don't see it as an attack, and it frustrates me when people see criticism as an attack. The author is right too, you're not getting developer support, they cannot fix any issues in the game itself with a VP port, but I still prefer VP ports over no ports for older games.

Quoting: dubigrasuI remember when in 2010 (I think) Liam used to post on various Linux forums advertising his new site.
Nobody knew about GamingOnLinux of course and he was promptly banned on several sites as a spammer.
Yeah, starting a new site isn't easy that's for sure. Thankfully now everyone does it for me ;)

Brushfire Games On Their Linux Sales For Shipwreck & Their Thoughts On Linux

I think attitudes here need some cooling off time. You all have you opinions, great, but if I see people putting down developers because they aren't as "smart" as others, I will be starting to take action. To be frank, I'm fedup of it now.

@Beamboom, I think your attitude is increasingly toxic in here.

I couldn't care less if a 5 year old made something I enjoy, or a 35 year old. The point is to enjoy what people create, not get stuck into details of their level of competency.

This was supposed to be a nice supportive article, from a developer who supports us. I am now closing the comments.

@beamboom, I again think you need to rethink your attitude, it's toxic.

I think it's brilliant what people can do with limited knowledge and resources.

Quoting: BeamboomAre there a lot of games on Steam written more or less by hobbyists?

My entire image of a games developer is about to get a serious correction here now...!
Of course there are, Steam is rammed full of games made by people of all ages and competency's.

Quoting: JudasIscariot@Liamdawe,

Sorry I didn't inform you of this myself, didn't think it would be a big deal since Trine Enchanted Edition has already been available everywhere else for Linux :)
No worries at all, I do like to big up GOG's DRM free releases, so don't be a stranger ;)
