What makes people feel like Valve's given up then? Lack of VR support? How are the Steam machines doing, are there new models still coming out?
If it's the VR thing I must say Valve at least missed a huge opportunity to make SteamOS more popular. The VR games market is still so undeveloped that a big push could have meant SteamOS having most of the library available and becoming a very good option for anyone.

I watched a little of this being streamed when it was new and it seemed intriguing at least.

Quoting: toorApparently this game is pretty shittyMetacritic average seems fairly low but Steam reviews are mostly positive. Some of the bad reviews are referencing technical issues one would hope are resolved at this point and most of the reviews aren't from particularly well-known sources.

Quoting: hallieballieIs this another Gorky 17 than Gorky 17 from Linux Game Publishing from 2006Yeah I believe it's the same title that had been ported natively back then. Tried out the demo once and it seemed like a very promising title based on that back then.
A Good & Honest Video About The Alienware Steam Machine

The discussion about there being good indie games is exactly the same for music, movies, etc. and it's been had a million times. Sure, if you're not the kind of person who loves Michael Bay movies there is huge amounts of good stuff outside the AAA marketing machine if you bother to look. Most people either do really want only what AAA offers or won't think of looking for anything else.

Quoting: Segata SanshiroI like this guy's comments... I think the trap he does fall into though is comparing the available games on SteamOS with Windows and not with a console on launch. PC gamers really need to get their (our) heads out of their arses, the world is much, much bigger than what has today essentially become a niche.Yes, people would be fine with it if they perceived the Steam machine as a console. If the general way to see it is as just a PC with a weird operating system, Valve is in trouble.

@mcphail even if the game is otherwise not similar to MTG/Hearthstone would you say the amount of RNG involved in the game is similar? Those games are also all about managing the random factors and while the more skilled player will not always win, on average they will be much more successful.

While it was pretty basic, I enjoyed "Call of Ctulhu: The Wasted Land" on Android. With the supernatural stuff this seems like it might give a somewhat similar feel but obviously looks much better and maybe it has more refined gameplay too.

Quoting: FurorI liked this game since long time ago, but it's difficult to overcome the overcrowded fps gaming market.Well, the arena shooter market is definitely not overcrowded but there isn't really any market to speak of. The whole genre has pretty much died, even though there are some interesting titles in development such as Reflex, the new UT and 2GD's Reborn project which might be called Diabotic, not sure.

The Crescent Hawks' games are some of my all-time favourite videogames and the original MechCommander was amazing as well. I haven't backed many projects recently but I think I may have to back this one.

Tried the f2p style version a bit once. I did enjoy it although the f2p elements were as annoying as always. Hopefully stripping them leaves enough of a game that it becomes enjoyable, I think I'll test this.
