Proton and Wine updater ProtonUp-Qt now shows anti-cheat status
25 Jun 2022 at 1:51 am UTC

Hey Liam maybe you could add to your previous guide on how to use ProtonUp, a section about installing it from the Discover store? I noticed that's how you suggested installing it in your video showing Morrowind using Luxtorpeda via ProtonUp, but in your guide you suggest going to github to get it. The Discover store is way more accessible to most Deck owners I think.

3,500 games now Steam Deck Verified or Playable
23 Jun 2022 at 12:13 pm UTC

Quoting: PhiladelphusI'm curious: have the ratings shifted to be more in line with peoples' expectations?
No, they haven't changed their criteria for rating games as Verified.

They outline it here [External Link].

Here's some of the text from the above link:

Games that check these four boxes are Deck Verified.

Input
The title should have full controller support, use appropriate controller input icons, and automatically bring up the on-screen keyboard when needed.

Display
The game should support the default resolution of Steam Deck (1280x800 or 1280x720), have good default settings, and text should be legible.

Seamlessness
The title shouldn’t display any compatibility warnings, and if there’s a launcher it should be navigable with a controller.

System Support
If running through Proton, the game and all its middleware should be supported by Proton. This includes anti-cheat support.

EDIT: Further explanation of all the ratings can be found here [External Link]

3,500 games now Steam Deck Verified or Playable

Looking forward to comments about those few games that slipped through the cracks of the verification system and somehow don't work as expected according to their rating. Best, most interesting and original sentiments, and very important to note since by all indications Valve is an evil and greedy company which lies to their customers (for profit!) at every opportunity. /s!

🤣🤣🤣 Sorry, couldn't help myself.

3500 games with console-like experience. Many more with PC-like experience. It's incredible!

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved on Steam Deck is absolutely awesome

Quoting: wit_as_a_riddleI love Geometry Wars, my first introduction to Twin Stick Shooters.

Any way you could check Geometry Wars 3 on Deck?
the linux binary us buggy af. the windows binary works smooth throu proton, but the online highscore tables don't load :(

so all you can do is play the campain and/or try to beat your own highscore in the various endless modes
I appreciate the information, shame about the highscores, maybe that can be fixed in a future version of Proton.

Quoting: wvstolzingI reinstalled it -- to find that I'm horribly rusty, as I can't survive beyond 12 seconds on Hard (the easiest difficulty is called 'Hard', btw). My record is 87 seconds on Hard, & 20-something on Harder.

I imagine this would be really fun to play on Steam Deck.
I've had some fun with this game, I used it as meditation practice lol. My scores are similar,

Hard: 90:23
Harder: 47:41
Hardest: 13:50

I haven't played in awhile either. 26:58 on Hard, not too bad for a first go haha, I remember some of the patterns. This game is ridiculous and I recommend everyone play it. I can never get any of my friends to play lol

They did state they'll honor all the orders that were placed while the site was live, so that's nice.

The pricing seems very reasonable. This is great! It'll be nice when the batteries show up too.

Steam Deck hits 2,500 games Verified or Playable

Quoting: EikeBut my bigger worry is games marked as playable or verified which just stop working (like reported on this very site)
This is what I was talking about with under 1%. That's what matters, if a game is marked unsupported and it works, great, it's not a problem in the same way as a game marked verified or playable not working.
