More good news for Linux gaming! I like that the whole series is coming over and not just the most recent game. That's dedication! Money will be spent! Will it just be Steam or will it come to GOG as well?

GOG Has More Linux Games Added To Their Collection

The wait for Galaxy for Linux and all those games on GOG that already have Linux clients elsewhere is driving me nuts. I need to do some buying and gifting once all the stuff I seek becomes available.

Borderlands: The Pre-sequel Looks Like It May Come To Linux (UPDATED)
8 Aug 2014 at 10:17 am UTC

Quoting: fleskSo apparently there are 3 or 4 people on the entire planet who is excited by the Linux announcement, they all dual boot and also pirate the game instead of paying for it. I don't know why I keep reading comments on articles like that on IGN. :/
They are hilarious, however. You get to delve into the minds of simpletons. I think it's fascinating and amusing.

Borderlands: The Pre-sequel Looks Like It May Come To Linux (UPDATED)

Quoting: abelthorneWell, it's indeed a bit odd after the comments from Pitchford about Borderlands 2. I'd wait for an official confirmation before being too much enthousiastic.
How hard would it be to bring over Borderlands and Borderlands 2 if this is simply a new game in the series and not a new game in the series built on an entirely new game engine? Seems a bit like Civilization: Beyond Earth being announced for Linux followed by Civilization 5 coming out for Linux.

The Team Behind PlayOnLinux & PlayOnMac Reveals PortMyApps (UPDATED)
4 Aug 2014 at 7:36 pm UTC

Quoting: tinouAs a developer of PlayOnLinux, and by reading some comments, I want to make things clearer.

This tool is noway made to discorage use of native ports. In fact, you cannot use it port games because it is limited 50Mo.

It is designed for very specific apps (like the one we ported) that could not and would not be ported in other way, or very old game (in general the source code is lost).

Games that can be natively ported won't be ported with PortMyApps, it is not planed for the moment (And there are no point for that!)
This sounds like something GOG would be very interested in. Have you contacted the folks there?

Considering how Linux is only gaining momentum as more and more games appear for our favourite operating system, this is something that I do not want to see happening. Some of these releases are several years old, yet are still being ported so that they are native e.g. Darksiders, Civilization 5, XCOM: Enemy Unknown. I don't want that to change now when it really counts.

Steam Hardware Survey For July 2014, Linux Dips

Quoting: liamdaweWow, so Arch could possibly be Steam's number 2 distro right now. That's a lot of users.
Debian also doesn't install lsb by default. At least I didn't have it in my Debian testing. It has lsb-release and lsb-base though.
I do not follow. All I have in my package manager regarding LSB is lsb-release and Steam is able to tell me what operating system version I am running.
