Feral Interactive are teasing yet another Linux game
9 May 2017 at 7:21 pm UTC

You can never have too many Total War games on Linux! I still remember how excited I was when Empire:TW was ported - how quickly it becomes the norm.

I hope they also port Fall of the Samurai?

Superposition, the latest benchmark by Unigine, has been released
12 Apr 2017 at 1:38 pm UTC

Quoting: pete910It is brutal on GPU's tbh, also the openGL implementation is nowhere near the perf of DX from the scores I've seen.
From what I can find the Win10/DX11 results are very close to the Linux/OpenGL looking at Average FPS:

Windows 10 DirextX (1080ti - Extreme setting - 46 FPS):

Linux OpenGL: (1080ti - Extreme setting - 44.5 FPS)

Feral Interactive have released a new teaser for a Linux & Mac port to come

We need Lara Croft, our favourite Tomb Raider to rise to the lofty heights of our coveted Linux OS, and if that involves wading through tea, I'm fine with that too.

Edit: Please ;-)

F1 2016 won't be coming to Linux, as sales of F1 2015 weren't strong enough

This is sad, and after 33 hours in F1 2015 including completing a full season, I really enjoyed the experience (coming first overall helped too :-) ), but it does not surprise me that the sales were low, for a couple of reasons:
1. The mixed to negative Steam user reviews were off-putting.
2. The game remained at full price for too long, even after F1 2016 was released (my opinion only).
Also being a niche game in a small market is a tricky proposition too. Anyway, thank you Feral for F1 2015 - it's great to have an F1 game on Linux!

Mad Max meets Vulkan in a new fully public beta for Linux, benchmarks and OpenGL vs Vulkan comparisons
31 Mar 2017 at 5:17 pm UTC

Quoting: FaattoriI didn't see this mentioned in the article and skimming the comments it wasn't discussed. Is this also a situation where one would want to change the CPU governor to performance? I'm referencing this https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/you-will-want-to-force-your-cpu-into-high-performance-mode-for-vulkan-games-on-linux-due-to-a-bug.9369
It makes some difference even with Vulkan (the OpenGL difference is a lot greater):

Performance CPU governor:
Vulkan:
Camp - Hollow Point: 138.33
Stronghold - Tyrant's Lash: 58.95
Cutscene - Hope, Glory, and Dog is Dead: 135.73
Cutscene - Landmover: 151.14

OnDemand CPU governor:
Vulkan:
Camp - Hollow Point: 134.98
Stronghold - Tyrant's Lash: 52.89
Cutscene - Hope, Glory, and Dog is Dead: 132.00
Cutscene - Landmover: 142.84

The future is here! I will give this a test drive soon - I'm very excited about the possibilities here, especially after the impressive improvements I got with the Talos Principle.

Edit: Here are my results on very high - just crazy:

OpenGL:
Camp - Hollow Point: 46.82
Stronghold - Tyrant's Lash: 26.56
Cutscene - Hope, Glory, and Dog is Dead: 62.55
Cutscene - Landmover: 68.71

Vulkan:
Camp - Hollow Point: 138.33
Stronghold - Tyrant's Lash: 58.95
Cutscene - Hope, Glory, and Dog is Dead: 135.73
Cutscene - Landmover: 151.14

Edit: GPU load:
OpenGL between 40-55%
Vulkan: 100% baby!

Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition officially announced with Linux support

Quoting: musojon74The muppets at Engadget only mentioned Mac and windows pcs. Ciupdnt possibly let the masses know that Linux is getting some traction. Still, I guess they are owned by AOL
I read that too and just thought what a bunch of Tech experts, not even acknowledging that Linux exists...

Hollow Knight, the fantastic looking action adventure game has a Linux build being tested

This game has got some truly amazing reviews. One person said he stood up and clapped when the credits rolled. Another proclaimed this to be his game of the decade. All pretty lofty stuff.

Wishlisted.

Quoting: GuestTried to add my system info, inputs are super limiting. 5 monitors is the max I can choose (I have 9). Resolution options are for a single monitor. OS/Distro/Dual boot options are limited. No GPU count so on and so on.
You're using 9 monitors on a single Linux machine - is that even possible? What are you using them all for?

You will want to force your CPU into high performance mode for Vulkan games on Linux

I did some more testing, and for my system I get up to 50% more FPS! This is something SIGNIFICANT especially if you have a bunch of cores to load up. OnDemand was my system default:

Total War:Attila:
OnDemand: 22.7 Ave FPS, Performance: 33.9 Ave FPS
Total War:Warhammer:
OnDemand: 57.7 Ave FPS, Performance: 74.0 Ave FPS
CoH2:
OnDemand: 27.8 Ave FPS, Performance: 49.2 Ave FPS
Dirt Rally:
OnDemand: 51.6 Ave FPS, Performance: 101.3 Ave FPS
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided:
OnDemand: 40.6 Ave FPS, Performance: 50.5 Ave FPS

Edit: Better layout.
