Valve's Steam Controller Now Has A Later Shipping Date
23 Oct 2015 at 1:06 pm UTC

This news sorta refutes all the naysayers saying the Valve hardware would never take off.
So a gloating HA! to them.

In related news, I adore my new Steam Controller, and I'm going to marry it.

(My fave config is to reverse the left stick and pad so that movement happens in the pad-now-rollerball and the stick becomes a D-pad. This arrangement allows something very close to the control and precision I get with a K & M. It's already my favorite controller. There's just no going back to the slower response times of traditional game controller's analogue sticks.)

Oh! I'm gushing. Sorry, but I'm in love. :)

Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition Delayed For Linux, Again
22 Oct 2015 at 12:40 pm UTC

I gave up looking forward to this game ages ago. So many new and exciting games are coming out for LInux nowadays that I can't be bothered with a has-been title like D:OS.

Indeed, I've all but forgotten about it, and it only think of it when Larian Studios is either creating or crushing the hope of Linux users with their announcements.

Like the Stanley Parable, I'll wait till it goes on sale because, after all this time, it's just another old game to me. A cool old game, granted, and one that I'll buy eventually, no doubt. But it's yesterday's news, and I'll not pine over it.

Ubuntu 15.10 Patched For Steam Controller, Backports To Older Ubuntu Versions This Week
21 Oct 2015 at 11:46 am UTC

Will the effect of this patch be limited to the tweak we early adopters already had to fiddle with to get the controller working on Ubuntu? (Jorge: you're our hero.) Or will there be other benefits such as having access to other heretofore unknown functions, or (IwishIwishIwish) being able to use the controller on the desktop itself?

Payday 2 SteamOS Version Delayed Until Next Year

Yesterday's patch undid the mechanic at the heart of the microtransaction fracas: It is no longer necessary to buy drills to open safes to get skins. Drills can now drop randomly during the normal "card" sequence at the end of everyone's missions.

Regarding the release date: Any bets Payday 2 comes to Linux before Divinity: Original Sin?

Overlord & Overlord 2 Coming To Linux, Two More Virtual Programming Titles

Saints Row 2 & 3 Are Being Ported By Virtual Programming

I guess I've never really understood the hubbub surrounding wrapped vs. native ports. Native or wrapped, if the game is playable on my Linux box --- especially if it's a AAA title --- then I'm do-a-little-dance happy.

Saints Row: Gat Out Of Hell Looks Like It Will Also Come To Linux

If they release SR 2, I will name my next-born child "DeepSilver."

If they release the whole series (less SR1), I will HAVE their child!

(P.S. And although, undoubtedly, all of us are "exciting" people, all of us are probably pretty excited about this Saint's Row news.) :)

Saints Row 2 Looks Like It's Coming To Linux

Saints Row 3 & 4 were silly fun, to be sure, but Saints Row 2 was the best of them. Its unique mix of violence, humor, and smarts was wildly intoxicating and addictive. Even the AI could be hysterical. I frequently spent time just watching and listening to the citizenry of Stilwater interacting with each other. (Cops beating up a citizen then being attacked and killed by other, nearby citizens. Shootouts between two automobiles chasing each other in a circle until one of the cars explodes.)

I could go on, but Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw's (probably NSFW) review video [External Link] does it so much better:

I will definitely be buying a copy of this game on Linux. :D
