Quoting: scaineOops, lol! Fixed! :)Quoting: NanobangMy favorite changes to 7d2d have been less about graphics and more about game options and play.I think you misquoted your little-bit thing there... aren't they both the same?
I love that I can now make it harder for the Zs to damage materials ... they're rotting flesh, after all ;). It doesn't even have to be 7d2d; it can be 14d2d or even 30d2d, allowing the game to go from a primarily-horde-survival-with-a-little-bit-of-exploration game to a primarily-horde-survival-with-a-little-bit-of-exploration game. Oh, and I can slow the Zs down to be walking dead, individually not too dangerous to the wary, but it's easy to get swarmed.
The progressive skill system is welcome too. I haven't played since, like, alpha 10 I think, so it's a waaayyy different and waaayyyyy better experience now.
And vehicles. Vrrrrooooommmm!
Quoting: scaineEither way, since almost every house will try to kill you with Zeds exploding from cupboards, false floors and collapsing stairs, exploration takes absolute balls of steel. Thanks, but I'm a cowardly explorer. I usually knock holes in outer walls around a building to flush the Zs out into the street where I can run-and-gun them more safely. It's too scary when they burst out of closets and whatnots. (But it's kindof funny to open an exterior door into one of their closet hidey-holes. They just stand their clueless when they respawn, waiting to be head-shootified. XD)

My kinda game, right down to the chickens. And it's reasonably priced too, at $16.99 US.

Quoting: scaine... I get out my drop-pod after joining a game, I hit V, my character hefts their axe and shouts "Rock and stone, brother" and almost immediately, everyone else present will hit V and I'll get a chorus of "For Caaaaal", or "Rock and stone to the bone!" back at me. It's just pretty goddam awesome.Although I bought it some time ago on sale, I've been holding off on playing DRG so it would still be fresh when it came out of Early Access. This little tidbit about saluting upon entering a game speaks volumes about the culture of gamers playing this game. I don't think I can wait any longer. It's time to install this puppy and get Dwarfish.
Jupiter Hell continues being a great combination of Doom and a roguelike, now with challenge modes

Much of my confusion may well be, as you say, overuse of "-like" when it should have been "-lite."

Thanks for the link.Quoting: NanobangLiam, would you describe what qualities make this a roguelike?Do you know http://www.roguebasin.com/index.php?title=What_a_roguelike_is [External Link] and the Berlin interpretation?

Liam, would you describe what qualities make this a roguelike?
It's not you. You wrote a great article. Anytime I see the term "roguelike" I'm left feeling a little befuddled because I confuse it with the similar sounding "roguellite," and because both terms are a hodge-podge of qualities (perma-death, semi-perma-death, proceedural generation, etc.) any of which may or may not be present in a given "roguelike/lite" game.
And yes, the game looks hella-fun, like a grown-up version of one of my faves, Meltdown [External Link].

Awesome news!

At&t DSL @ 600kb/s = Stadia? What stadia? And Google, being Google, can be expected to drop the whole thing in a few years anyway.

Quoting: liam...they refused to confirm a Linux version really was being done despite their Fig campaign having a Linux icon and a statement saying "we’re planning to release Outer Wilds on PC, Mac, and Linux through Steam next year" on the actual Fig page. They never did reply to my final question back then, to ask why a Linux version was listed so clearly on Fig if "Linux is still to be determined" as they told me in a previous reply. These hucksters sound like they never really planned to bring it out on Linux, aside from the lip-service given to scam a couple dollars from the Community, soooo I prolly woulda just said "fuck em" anyway. But given their abandoning all of Steam to suckle at the syphilitic teat of Epic, I recommend absolutely no sexual contact with them whatsoever.
Path of Exile to get Vulkan support, they would "like" to add Linux support

Lol, I just uninstalled it from my HDD because I hadn't gotten around to playing it yet and it just kept getting humongous-er with frequent double-digit, multi-GB-sized updates. I'd love to see it switch to Vulkan, to be sure. I'd love to see all my games switched to Vulkan, come to that. Look, I guess what I'm saying is I fuckin' love Linux!
