If Trump can be president, Linux can beat Mac.

Bastion on Steam has been updated to use FNA
1 Oct 2017 at 12:54 pm UTC

I've had a lot of fun imagining what FNA might be an acronym for (Finnish Nanny Association, Friendly Ninja Attack!, Fiendishly Naughty Angels ... ) but then I realized that even if I did happen to guess its meaning in this case, I wouldn't know it. So, I'll just ask. What does FNA stand for and what is it, exactly?

xoEl Empire, a puzzle game that's just utterly weird is on Linux

I just really hated the movement sound ...
Lol. I hate the look of the little critters so much that I'm siding with the xoEL Empire's efforts to imprison them. I'll soon be making available t-shirts and coffee mugs that say "A Yabbie caged is aesthetics saved." ;D

Half-Life: C.A.G.E.D. from former Valve worker should hopefully come to Linux

Boffo! When I first saw this was coming out I felt disappointed when I saw the lone Windows logo. I see I'll have to go back and wishlist it after all. This is great news.

Valve makes adjustments to user reviews due to review bombing with 'histogram' charts
20 Sep 2017 at 12:51 pm UTC

Quoting: liamdaweI don't really see how you can personalize a review score.

Perhaps it might work like Netflix does, where one's former reviews and the reviews of others with similar tastes are used to math-magically predict one's future reviews? It's been pretty accurate for me---both the old 5-star system and the newer Up/Down Thumb system. Though, I've only ever reviewed a handful of the games I've played, but I regularly rated movies at Netflix, which stands to reason. (I could have seen a lot of Netflix videos in my approximately 1800 hours of Payday 2 gameplay.) Ultimately a personal review---if one good one could be created for Steam---system would undo review-bombers as any negative reviews would simply impact themselves.

If nothing else, I think Valve should separate Early Access reviews from Final release reviews and winnow out all the morons who give bad "reviews" based on incompletely made games.

Prime Arena, a game inspired by MOBA and PUBG should see a future Linux released

What a curious chimera. Here's hoping it survives its gestation.

The situation of 'RUINER' coming to Linux is so very strange, developers now asking for requests
16 Sep 2017 at 2:18 pm UTC

Done. I was post #260 on the thread, so there's that. Now I'm gonna forget all about Ruiner till: [a] It is released on Linux, or---well, that's it really.

Dead Acres, a multiplayer survival farming game has Linux support
11 Sep 2017 at 12:13 pm UTC

Quoting: liamdaweI despise having to join something by IP and port manually.
Huz---in a word---ZAH! I don't see how anyone wanting to see a wider adoption of Linux gaming would---or perhaps even could---say otherwise, really.

I missed that this update had come along. I've owned the game for quite sometime, but have restrained myself from playing it before it's "complete" and out of Early Access. I didn't realize it wasn't more widely known about in the community. I'm glad to see it getting some welcoming attention here. :)

A bunch of Feral Interactive Linux ports may be broken on Arch and others, here's a possible workaround

Quoting: liamdaweIt's why even after I posted about how I loved Antergos, I'm back and happy on Ubuntu on my main gaming machine, so I don't have to deal with stuff like this.
Me too. After a torrid affair with Manjaro Gnome, I'm back with Ubuntu Gnome 17.04. Manjaro and I parted amicably a few months ago when its fickleness became apparent. It was inevitable, really. Looking back, I guess I knew the honeymoon was over when I learned that it was called "Manjaro" like "Mt. Kilimanjaro" and not "Man-haro" as it would be pronounced in Spanish.)

The co-op, action RPG 'Dauntless' may see Linux support in future

I was pretty drunk the year when Monster Hunter was a thing, so I don't remember much anything about it. Dauntless looks like fun, though. It's a solo/coop kill the hapless fauna game? Here's hoping the dev has enough primarily Linux blood in his or her veins to find a way to get it to us somehow. ;)
