Wow, it's been in Early Access since 2013.

HITMAN looks like it's coming to SteamOS & Linux

Quoting: apocalyptech
Quoting: Stupendous ManTrying not to be negative, but what's with the recent trend in game titles? Hitman, Tomb Raider, Doom etc, these games are years old! Why can't they just call them Hitman/Tomb Raider/Doom N+1? I'm old enough to remember when the originals were released, maybe that's why I get so easily confused!

But seriously, what is the reason for this? Don't they expect us to be able to count above 2 or 3?
Yeah, it's pretty ludicrous. I think it's generally done when the developers/publishers/whoever feel as though they're 'rebooting' a franchise rather than putting out a brand new sequel. Still reasonably obnoxious, though. Has this been happening in movie franchises too? I seem to think so, but I'm pretty unplugged from that area of popular culture, so I may be imagining it.

Edit: I'm fond of the word "ludicrous" today, apparently! :)
It's still not as ludicrous as the name "Xbox One". :D

Anyway, this will be a welcome addition to Linux, assuming it's ported well. I second the hope of an earlier poster that this one gets ported straight to Vulkan. In fact, all future Linux games should be. Vulkan is already super stable on The Talos Principle (for me anyway).

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris looks like it's coming to Linux

It looks like most of the negative reviews are about performance problems and bugs. This might be one of those games they should fix on Windows first before they bother porting it.

What have you been playing on Linux recently and what do you think about it?

I've revisited the Talos Principle with Vulkan, and let me tell you, it's as smooth as butter. I was on the fence about how much better Vulkan would be, but no more. It's really a "night and day" kind of difference. We need to encourage other devs to hop on the Vulkan train.

Rocket League for Linux & SteamOS getting close to a release window finally

I remember when Darksiders was "98% done" and just needed some polish. By now it should be able to show you your reflection and tell you who's the fairest of them all. Hopefully, this game won't be like that.

Dead Island Definitive Edition and Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition now officially support Linux & SteamOS

Confusing, because Deep Silver told me directly this wasn't happening.
To be fair, they told you, "We currently don't have plans for Linux versions for these editions."

So, perhaps the moment after they finished that tweet, they made plans for it and spent the next few sleepless nights making it happen because Linux gamers are that important to them. :D

Steam Machines are dead in the water according to Ars, not quite
2 Jun 2016 at 10:15 pm UTC

The problem with comparing Steam Machines to Xbone and PS4 is that Valve's platform isn't just SteamOS. It's Steam as a whole, and that platform spans multiple operating systems and hardware. It wouldn't be fair to only talk about one Android phone vendor and compare it to Apple's iPhone as a platform when Google is looking at the big Android picture with all the different phones under a single platform. They wouldn't call it a failure because some new Android phone vendor has a small market share. Similarly, Steam as a gaming platform is hugely successful, and its Linux arm is just another extension of it, one that Valve undoubtedly hopes to grow.

Lego Minifigures Online shutting down, say goodbye to our first official Lego game

My kids love LEGO games, but I told them about this one, and they were like, "meh". On the other hand, my little one keeps asking for LEGO Worlds even though she already has Minecraft and a bunch of other building games.

Editorial: Valve have not abandoned SteamOS or Linux, things are looking pretty good

I think we need to separate the issues here, even though they're related. On the one hand, gaming on Linux has never been better, and it will probably continue to get better. For Linux gamers, this is a dream come true.

On the other hand, for Valve, they stink pretty badly at PR and don't communicate well with their customers. For the people who have used Steam for years, they probably know that. For someone new to the scene looking to buy a Steam machine and use SteamOS as an alternative to an Xbox One or PS4, they will likely be disappointed.

For Windows PC gamers, they just laugh at the poor performance and low number of games. But since that is likely to improve, it's possible some of them will come around, especially if they're loyal Steam users.
