This does not include Android, even though it is Linux,
Android is not Linux. Linux programs don't work on Android and Android apps don't work on Linux.
Android uses a heavily modified version of the Linux kernel. That's it.
I don't agree, because you can easily install a Linux distribution in a chroot and it will run your usual Linux applications then.
Wait a minute now. We're talking about desktop Linux. Shouldn't this discussion be about ChromeOS rather than Android? And isn't ChromeOS a desktop Linux distribution? You can actually chroot a Linux distro very easily within it. Last I checked, Chromebook sales had even surpassed Mac laptops.

Isn't it kind of snooty for Linux users to only count a Linux victory if it's their standard of what they consider a "pure" Linux distribution? If you're not counting anything that runs the Linux kernel, then shouldn't you get all Stallman-like and call it GNU/Linux?

Vanguard Princess, a 2D fighting game that features an all-female cast is coming to Linux

Quoting: omer666Vanguard Princess is a really good VS fighting game, and I'm not saying that because of the fair amount of fan-service that's provided by the game (even if I could, but that's another matter :p)

More particularly, the animation is top-notch, and the game is often said to have been developed by a former Street Fighter III developer (the best episode to date). Whether this is true or not, the game is really well crafted with some interesting gameplay ideas, and the hitting priorities and overall feeling is really pro-quality.

The game is essentially 1 vs 1, but it uses a second character based on the same model as strikers that can be found in Marvel vs Capcom or King of Fighters '99.

Definitely recommended, will buy when it's out.
That's surprising. From what I remember, it seemed pretty shoddy even on Windows. It was a 2009 game made with the "Fighter Maker" program. It didn't even have support for widescreen monitors. Has it improved somehow? I'm not saying it won't be good, but it's hard to see how it could be better than Skullgirls.

Edit: I should note. I'm referring to how the game runs rather than the gameplay. It might be stellar.

So I Played… FORCED SHOWDOWN

@liamdawe Did you play the original Forced, and did you like it? I'm asking because I didn't really care for it, so I'm wondering if this game is similar or might be something I'd prefer.

Imagine if your job was to patrol the "neutral zone". Is it possible to die of boredom?

Street Fighter V has passed the initial Linux & SteamOS release window

Quoting: musojon74I think now Valve have lost interest in Steam OS. Therefore so has everybody else. Valve breaks promises ( like with Rocket League ). Still, we've got more games than I ever thought we would a few years ago.
It's possible, but I doubt it. Microsoft has now shown its true intentions with its Windows Store and its merging of Windows 10 and Xbox One platforms. Valve anticipated all of this when it set out to create a viable Steam platform. Remember, Valve continues to make boat loads of money from Steam on Windows, Mac and Linux, even while SteamOS continues to bake in its virtual oven. Valve can take its time (and we know from experience that it will).

Megapolis, a classic city simulator is now on Steam with Linux support

I'm a little confused. It looks like this game just appeared on Steam. So, how was it sold before that? The company's website gives no hints that it's available anywhere else. There's a mobile/facebook game by the same name, but it's from another developer.

Satellite Reign now has a co-op mode called Uplink which is in beta
18 Jun 2016 at 10:27 pm UTC

It's a good game, although it doesn't perform well under Linux (probably because of Unity). Actually, I've heard some say it's not exactly stellar on Windows either.

The mechanics of co-op would be interesting in a real-time strategy like this.

Entroware have released another beast of a Laptop, worth looking into

That thing maxes out at 64 GB of RAM. :O You can even opt for the 1TB SSD. If money were no object, I'd be all over it. But alas, my money is a very very small object. I'll stick to my Chromebook for portability and my desktop for gaming.

Here's my own Linux OpenGL vs Vulkan test for Dota 2, not much difference for me
16 Jun 2016 at 12:22 am UTC Likes: 1

I have no solution for any of this, and I don't even play Dota. But my limited experience with Vulkan has shown me that it runs much more smoothly, without hitches like I tend to get with OpenGL. In this case, I'm referring to the Talos Principle. I'm guessing it takes stress off the CPU and relies more on the GPU. I have a GTX 970 but a pretty old i5 CPU. The less stress on my CPU, the better (at least until I can upgrade).

Maybe, even though you're seeing slightly lower FPS, it might still be smoother performance and better use of the GPU. I'm totally speculating, but just wondering.

A new benchmark video shows Dota 2 with Vulkan performing better on Windows than Linux

I'm actually more surprised Nvidia's Linux drivers already suppirt their 1080 card.
