Is city building more fun in Civ 6 than Civ 5?

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoI don't believe in dual boot. I prefer to have the things separated. That's why I have two steam accounts.
Nope, I saw what you wrote about having two machines. :)

I stopped dual-booting as well, but just cause W10 was being a little bitch when I upgraded from W7. Instead of fucking around with the booting I just bought a new ssd for Linux and took out the Windows ssd. I ordered a 2nd ssd mount for my Windows ssd. If I have to use Windows I have to shut down the computer and plug in power + sata, which would encourage me not to use Windows cause I cba to.

Quoting: BreezeIf you haven't bought it yet, I wouldn't recommend it unless you are playing exclusively multiplayer. The AI is really bad. This update supposedly improves the AI to AI+ mod levels. I have AI+ mod installed and the AI is still really bad.
I don't see the incentive to buy it. I can play Civ 5 with friends on Windows. I can't do that with Civ 6. The changes to the game seem superficial, and doesn't seem to warrant a new instalment.

Quoting: bubexelIt work perfect for you, who love linux. But when friends ask me to try linux and they get dissapointed because not all their games works on linux now i just need to sum that no one of their games will work because they have to buy them all again. Yes sure, its a great idea... bleh
Linux gamers aren't just gamers. We're also Linux enthusiasts, or at least people who aren't very fond of Windows. If people come to me asking for advice to try Linux I will give it, but also with the cold hard truth of Linux vs Windows.

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoIf You switched from Windows for never come back, the best way to support Linux is to forget about the Steam account from your windows era, open a new Steam account and buy the games again.
I fail to understand your reasoning here. If you buy a game on Linux and play it on Linux it counts as a Linux sale. Why do you need a new account only for Linux?

Quoting: rustybroomhandleThere used to be some horrible myths about Linux and gaming going around... you know them well, things like "too many distributions to support" and "nobody plays games on Linux" - that sort of thing.

One of these myths was always "Linux users just want everything for free". Our support of Humble Indie Bundle debunked this one fast, but now I'm starting to think there's something to this. Maybe these people were right.

Porting games to Linux costs money. You should jump at opportunities to support your porters financially so they can keep on doing it. If there's nobody doing Linux ports, WE GET NO LINUX PORTS.
'

I think you're trying to argue against the human psyche. If we turned it around and Linux was the dominating OS with all the games and Windows getting a few ports, it would still be the same. Why would you spend your hard earned money twice on something you already own?

Who doesn't like getting things for free?

It's not a consumers job to to support a company financially. Consumer buy a product they want to buy. Don't give people the idea that they should buy games even if they don't like a game, or that they should go out of their way to support a company (beyond buying the product). If people want to play games on Linux, that's cool, and if they want to play on Windows that's cool too.

I usually hold out on buying Windows version of games that I think will come to Linux in the near future.

Why is a Linux port worth so much less to you?
For me, it's not that. It's that some games are just overpriced. I don't buy games that cost over 500 nok (or roughly 54 euros), and even 400 nok (or roughly 43 euros). Mostly it's that I think most games aren't worth that price.

People waiting for sales is just playing smart as a consumer. Why should we pay full price for a game when we know will go on sale a few months to half a year down the line?

I do think porters should get paid. Which is why I buy games from Feral store when I intend to buy Feral ported games. It's expected for people to get a Windows and Linux and Mac OS version on steam, but that's not cause people asked, but they just got it. Are they going to just take that away? That doesn't usually turn out well. Remember the whole paid DLC thing Bethesda and Valve tried to do? There has been apps on the google store that suddenly went from free to very expensive. From what I have seen, people have not reacted well to that. I think this is one of those "opening a can of worms" issues.

I'm still considering if Civ 6 is worth it. What I heard about the game didn't make me interested. AI problems, graphics, too much simplicity etc.

What have you been playing recently and what do you think about it?

Quoting: AryvandaarI've been playing Pillars of Eternity The White March. It's quite fun, and I really like the new companions in the DLC. I have yet to finish Pillars of Eternity, and I have logged over 100 hours but I'm the kind of guy who play RPG as a competitionist, if the content is good of course.
I'm surprised that you play White March before finishing the main line. How does the DLC integrate?
I think the key thing is that you just have to have Caed Nua before you start The White March. Some Watcher stuff is in the DLC story. But, the whole thing is as expected for a small town north of dyrwood. People don't really know about you, except you being an adventurer, and are quite surprised when they find out that you're a Watcher.

Razer looking to improve Linux support on their 'Blade' series of laptops
13 Mar 2017 at 9:39 am UTC

I'm able to configure my razer blackwidow ultimate 2016 in Linux, so that is a big plus. I'm trying to look into support for my logitech mouse configs in Linux, but no luck. :/

I might buy a razer mouse cause I know they are supported in Linux.
