I guess most important factor would be fun/interesting gameplay mechanics. But maybe that's a given.

A New BATTLETECH Game From Harebrained Schemes Is On Kickstarter, Funded Already

It's already at 1 million, single-player campaign is a go.

Quoting: badberThe Crescent Hawks' games are some of my all-time favourite videogames and the original MechCommander was amazing as well. I haven't backed many projects recently but I think I may have to back this one.
I've never played MechCommander and was thinking of trying it out in preparation for BattleTech, especially since it's free. But I couldn't get it to run, crashed after the opening movie. Has anyone here gotten this to run in wine recently? All the winehq entries are somewhat old, with the most recent ones having encountered issues.

Backed this already. Harebrained Schemes have experience with both kickstarter and Linux games, I love what they did with Shadowrun, so they've definitely earned my trust.
This kickstarter is going really well, so it's looking good for the $1,000,000 single-player campaign stretch goal, which, in a way, is the real goal.

Quoting: maodzedunWell, I don't believe that most of the keys come from stolen credit cards, that's the thing. At least not when it comes to say Kinguin.
I didn't claim it's 'most' keys. But it does happen, no believe required, see the recent example of Ubisoft games [External Link]; the article mentions Kinguin resellers, so it's not just G2A.
For what this can mean for devs, look at this blog post by Natural Selection developer Unknown Worlds [External Link]: they ended up having to pay charge-back fees and had to leave the keys activated. So not only did they not get paid, they had to pay money for people to play the game.

Again, the far better option is to just wait for a sale on a legitimate site.

Quoting: maodzedunThe fact is there are extremely low prices in Russia and South America. This means that they can turn an acceptable profit even at lower prices if they wish to be bothered.
No, it means that the other markets subsidize those markets. The games are sold at those lower prices because the devs would rather get a little bit of money than none. It doesn't mean that the game would be profitable if they sold at that price everywhere. And sometimes those cheaper keys are limited in number, like when the key resellers buy the physical copies and then sell the digital keys that come with those at a higher price in a different region.

Quoting: maodzedunFrom where I stand they don't respect my local market enough to offer me a price suited with the local economical situation. Many people would just pirate, I choose to find the better price and hope they still get some of my money. I fully understand why many of you will disagree with me, but I do hope you guys understand from where I stand - this is the moral thing to do.
I understand your situation, but I really dislike how many gamers use the threat of piracy almost as a way to blackmail publishers. Of course it's your right to find a better price, but when you support illegal activities in the process, that crosses a line. Most games go on sale on Steam or humble for less than the reseller launch price within less a year. Is waiting a year really so bad that you'd rather support credit card fraught?

Quoting: maodzedunI'm sorry but I disagree with the key reseller part. Indeed, some of the keys are stolen but the majority have been purchased in some cheap location like South America.
Except sometimes the keys are bought with stolen credit cards. In that case, the publisher/developer may end up with nothing, and you support credit card fraught. I'm not even sure if piracy isn't actually preferable, at least you know who you hurt with that.
But really, better wait for good sales and buy games through legitimate outlets.

Assault Android Cactus Full Release, Some Thoughts On This Action Packed Shooter

Apparently the devs tried to get the game on GOG and GOG never returned their submission [External Link]. Weird, would be nice to have it on GOG, even though Steam version is DRM free and it's on humblebundle.

Great game!
Runs at a steady 120 fps with everything maxed, correctly identifies DS4 and Logitech F710, very nice.
I also like the character designs, they look cool and I love that they are all female.
I just wished I didn't suck so badly, the first boss just got me... But it's fun to play so who cares.

Sword Coast Legends Fantasy RPG Release Delayed Until October

Well, at least this'll give me time to finish Wasteland 2 and maybe even play some more Pillars of Eternity.
It's really great to see how many good RPGs have been coming to Linux lately.
