Divinity: The Original Sin Enhanced Edition Announced, No Linux Release Date

Quoting: Mountain ManThis is why I'm always cautioning people to avoid Kickstarter and "early access", because there is zero accountability and zero incentive for the developers to actually make good on their promises once they have your money.
I definitely agree on being cautious, but I think it also depends on what engine they are using. D: OS uses their own custom engine, so they have to build Linux support from scratch. On the other hand, Bloodstained [External Link] will use UE4 which supports Linux, so I'm relatively confident that they'll be able to deliver a Linux version. Umbra [External Link] uses cryengine and say they'll support Linux. Cryengine Linux support is new, but by the time the game is ready making a Linux version is hopefully relatively straight-forward.
Maybe I'm still too naive, but I think kickstarter is a good thing for gaming in general (gave us Shadowrun and Pillars), and I want to support developers who support Linux.

Divinity: The Original Sin Enhanced Edition Announced, No Linux Release Date

Seems shady that they are now doing PS4 and XB1 ports before releasing the promised Linux version that the people who backed the kickstarter already paid for.

Spec Ops: The Line Released For Linux, Initial Port Report Included

Runs pretty well for me except for the occasional stutter. For some reason, the default resolution when I started the game was 480p, and everything was set to low.
I also tried using a DS4, and it works fine, just had to invert the up/down.

Our Linux Game Release Calendar Is Now Live

Very nice, lots of stuff to look forward to!
Would it be possible to have a link to where the release date was announced (if it isn't a same day release)? For example, I didn't know that Batman had a release date, other than 'Fall'.
Also, while I hope you're right about the Witcher 3 best guess that it's still coming this year, it seems optimistic. If they were planning to release this year, wouldn't they at least confirm that they're working on it? I'm just trying not to get too hyped for that game...

Dex, 2D Cyberpunk Action RPG, Exits Early Access

Quoting: valczirUnfortunately, one of the types of hacking mini games (cyberspace?) is still broken on linux (it freezes on a black screen), making it completely unplayable.

The game so far is enjoyable for the most part, but I can't progress very far right now.
I just started playing, and I have the same problem (I think). I get to Tony's hideout, and Decker is supposed to teach me about cyberspace. I get into cyberspace with the bars at the sides of the screen and me in the middle, but then all I can do is hit Esc to get to the pause menu, nothing else works. Seems this is a bug on Mac and Linux: http://steamcommunity.com/app/269650/discussions/3/613957600529999042/ [External Link]
Guess we'll have to wait for a fix.

Steam Officially Starts Allowing Paid Mods In The Workshop, People Are Upset

I have no problem with the modders getting paid for their work. If they put in the effort to make content people want that seems only fair.
I wonder though if there can be unintended consequences since the publishers can get more out of this than the modder (if I understand correctly the publisher decides what cut the modder gets). Couldn't that lead to publishers getting additional revenue for shipping a broken game that some modder then fixes? Or just missing features. Ship the game without field-of-view slider or with locked framerate or resolution, someone makes a mod to add those features, and the publisher not only saves money on not having to implement any of this, but actually gets more money because someone else fixed the problem for them and people have to pay for the fix (unless the modder makes it available for free).
Then again, maybe I'm just old and cynical...

Aspyr Media Are Teasing A New Game, They Promise Many Penguin Smiles

Quoting: WorMzyA game that involves sailing? Sid Meier's Pirates, or Colonization? I'd be happy with those, although I don't think too many others would be as overly pleased.
Both are already on Linux on gog.com.

Deus Ex: HR, since people 'asked for it'.
Maybe I should stop watching that Mankind Divided trailer, I'm seeing DX everywhere...
