EGOSOFT planning two new space simulation games, 'X Rebirth VR Edition' using Vulkan and also X4
19 Dec 2016 at 7:54 pm UTC

I don't much care about X Rebirth VR, but I am hype as **** for X4. Please, please, please, please let this be the return to what X3 and X2 were and not another stripped down streamlined space sim like Rebirth. I want to be able to pilot a multitude of ships, including capital ships, again. I want to build a giant trading empire and amass a fleet that I can terrorize patrol the galaxy with. Just give me X3 with better graphics and less crappy cut scenes and voice acting and I will be a happy man.

Still awaiting benchmarks performed by an independent 3rd party (I don't trust benchmarks performed by AMD or Intel themselves), hopefully Ryzen is AMD's big comeback. Lord knows we desperately need some competition again.

Big Brother is watching you, comrade. This seems like a really cool and creepy game. Very creepy.

Some thoughts on 'Her Majesty's SPIFFING', a new point & click adventure

As a big point & click fan, I'll definitely keep this one in mind for when my backlog thins out.

Mimimi Productions state that Linux (and Mac) were profitable for The Last Tinker

I might have to get The Last Tinker. If it's even half as good as Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun (very different genre, I know) then I'll likely enjoy it. Plus, I could use a 3D platformer to play until Yooka-Laylee comes out.

Valve announce Dota 2 - 7.00, a massive update that changes everything

Only time and plenty of gameplay will tell, but it seems like the backpack would be a giant boost for Alchemist, not that Alch needed it. I mean, what other hero regularly gets to the point where they run out of item slots (and start handing out Aghs to their teammates)?

I'm happy about the illusion nerf, if for no other reason then so I don't have to see SD/Luna every game any more.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance may not come to Linux at all, more bad news

This was one of the last projects I crowdfunded before I stopped crowdfunding altogether. I'll be requesting a refund promptly. If it ever does come out for Linux I'll probably buy it... at 75% off on a Steam sale.

AMD will be showing off their Zen CPU Architecture and letting people play with it on December 13th

They will be letting "eSports & Evil Geniuses legend PPD" put it through its paces, I'm not going to pretend I know who that is, should I know?

Quern - Undying Thoughts, a puzzle game inspired by Myst released day-1 on Linux
6 Dec 2016 at 11:43 am UTC Likes: 2

I've been playing this for about a week and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. If you've ever played Myst then you know what to expect; there are strange machines and items that you need to figure out on your own how they work and what their purpose is. There are hints for all the puzzles scattered about but they're often hidden and even when the hints are out in the open you need to figure out on your own what they mean and which puzzle they correspond to.
