Not a game I personally have any interest in playing, but I'm happy that it's getting ported to the penguin, if indeed it is, and am happy that Feral are getting so much work.

Ah, a blast from the days when Tim Schafer still made good games.
It is a damn good game, but the original (which I own) is still perfectly playable in SCUMMVM and quite honestly I think the old pixellated graphics hold up quite well. I'll pass.

Obsidian and Paradox team up for new RPG called Tyranny and it's coming to Linux

Quoting: soulsourceWait, weren't the Obsidian developers cautious about any new Linux releases? I remember something about it not being worthwhile [External Link] and such....They said later that it wasn't worthwhile because they hadn't worked with Linux before so they all had to learn and also port their in-house tools and middleware to Linux. This game will likely use many, if not all, of the same tools used for Pillars, they won't need to port those this time and they now have experience working with Linux. Making a Linux version of the game should be several orders of magnitude easier this time around.

CryEngine V released, Crytek now offer CryEngine as "pay what you want", source code access too

I fully expect Source 2, Unreal Engine 4, and Serious Engine 4 to be the first engines to support Vulkan, then CryEngine, then finally somewhere way down the line Unity (given how long it's taken them just to get to OpenGL 4.x).

Quoting: berillionsNo Vulkan for the CryEngine...Vulkan has been out for a month, DX12 has been out for nearly a year. You can't expect Crytek to snap their fingers and a month later Vulkan is supported in their engine. It will take some time, hopefully we see it in CryEngine 5.1 or whatever in however many months.

Yeah. All the English in the game is technically correct, it's just some of it is spoken in a way people wouldn't typically say things. A lot of times you can say things in English, and this will vary a bit from English speaking region to region too, several different ways. They are all technically correct and all mean the exact same thing, but only one of the ways is the way people would typically say it.
I'm sure it's the same with other languages. I know for a fact it's that way with Polish. There are several ways you can structure a sentence that are all technically correct and people will understand what you mean, but some of those ways just sound a bit weird because that's not how people typically speak.
Anyway, it's not a big deal and it's perfectly understandable coming from a small studio that comes from a country that doesn't speak English natively. But it's something you definitely pick up on when you're fluent in English.

I would expect the first engines to fully support Vulkan to be Source 2, Unreal Engine 4 and Serious Engine 4, given that both Valve and Epic were heavily involved in the development of Vulkan and that Croteam have already begun working on implementing Vulkan. Hopefully other engines like CryEngine and Unity follow shortly thereafter.

Quoting: ShmerlVulkan support in CryEngine will come later, so don't expect it to happen too soon.I imagine that this is what will be the holdup for Homefront: Revolution as well if that doesn't wind up being day 1 on Linux.

Quoting: berillionsI sent a message to the Community Manager yesterday and I received her answer:This very much sounds to me like they're waiting for Vulkan support in CryEngine, something that will almost certainly come eventually. Remember, Vulkan is nearly a year behind DX12. The good news is that Vulkan seems to be addressing one of the major problems with OpenGL, the lack of good tools and proper guides, plus everything I've heard suggest that Vulkan is a lot more like DX12 than OpenGL was like DX11 and under, so porting from DX12 to Vulkan should be a lot simpler once CryEngine gets proper Vulkan support.
The game is still planned and Warhorse Studio works to resolv the problem.

I'm making my way through the game now, about 5 hours in. About my only complaint is that the voice acting is a kinda wooden. The puzzles have been steadily getting more interesting (nothing too obtuse like old skool Sierra games), the music is great, and the art in the game is flat out amazing. I also like the occasional mini-game they threw in to change things up for a bit.
