Quoting: lvlarkBut it will still be a same-day Linux release? That'd be cool. Sadly, system requirements only lists the Windows requirements now.It still states that Linux is a day 1 release on their website https://swordcoast.com/ [External Link] :

I'm just under 2 hours in and I agree it's not as scary as previous Frictional titles, at least no so far. I mean there have been a few pretty tense moments and Frictional's audio work, as far as ambient sounds and sound effects, is on point as usual. I always felt in their games the audio did as much, likely more, to build tension than the visuals. Still, overall nothing as creepy as their previous works, especially not compared to Penumbra: Black Plague (that had some really messed up moments). I'm fine with that, though, as I'm a coward, so less scary isn't a bad thing necessarily. I'm definitely interested to keep going to find out what in the blue hell is this place and what happened here.

Edit: Come to think of it, maybe it was nvidia-settings. When I switched to the new PPA and updated my driver I think I remember it telling me there was an update to nvidia-settings, but apt-get held it back like it does with kernel updates (I always do stuff like this from command line, just used to it), so I told it manually to update nvidia-settings. Maybe it needed a nvidia-settings update to go with the nvidia driver update? That's all I can think of.

Quoting: ricki42I use that PPA and I can overclock just fine still with the 355.11 driver. You had Coolbits 8 or 12 set and it didn't work? Weird. Well, at least the manual method works for you. I have no idea why it didn't work with the PPA for you, it works fine for me.Quoting: KeyrockFor anyone using *buntu, the Nvidia 355.11 driver is in the new "official" graphics PPA they added not too long ago. As long as you have that PPA added then "sudo apt-get install nvidia-355" will do the trick.I actually tried using the new PPA for the first time for that driver. It installed and worked, but then I noticed that I had lost the ability to overclock. The 'coolbits' option was still set in my xorg.conf, but it didn't show up in nvidia-settings. The manual fan speed option was sometimes there, but the clock settings weren't. I didn't try command line, so I don't know if it was just missing in the GUI. Should have checked that, but at that point I just decided to go back to manual install, after which all the settings reappeared. I usually don't overclock, but it's nice to have the option for some more demanding games.
Has anyone else encountered this?

Poor timing, I'll still likely be playing SOMA at that point. Still, I'll pick this up sometime in the future for sure.

It's a Fatal Frame/Project Zero clone, which is fine, since I love Fatal Frame (as a Wii U owner I'm positively extatic for Fatal Frame 5 in a couple months). It's a decent game if you can get over the 2004 textures, but the graphics settings were all messed up on Linux last time I tried. I played a bit of it months ago then got to a super frustrating boss battle (scissor ghost) that pissed me off so much I gave up on the game. Also the mechanic of forcing you to run down an ever increasing length tunnel every time you die is so ****ing bull****. Eventually it got to the point where I'd have to run for 2 ****ing minutes to get back into the game. Who thought that was a good idea and why haven't they been arrested?

"Then we also have the Saints Row games I'm pretty damn excited about, as they are utterly ridiculous apparently."
They got more ridiculous as the series went on; 1 was basically a GTA knock off, trying to maintain a balance of gritty realism and humor, 2 was a really good GTA knock off with more of a sense of humor, 3 is where they said to **** with trying to maintain any sense of realism and went full on goofy, 4 is just completely bonkers.
