I'm STARVED for a racing game, but I'm still going to hold off until this gets fully released. It does look good, though. I'm really happy they put in a cockpit view, that's always my preferred view in racing games.

I didn't answer the final question because none of the responses fit for me. Really, that's an almost impossible question for me to answer because what appeals to me changes on a case by case basis. Sometimes I buy as game because of the genre it's in, sometimes the aesthetic appeals to me, sometimes the reputation of the developer influences me, it's different every time and I can't predict it.
For example, right now I have a terrible urge to play a racing game, I want to play a racing game really badly, so the first racing game to come out, whether it's Project CARS or GRID: Autosport, I will almost certainly buy it, once I know it's not a buggy mess.
To be clear, I think it's a good question, I just couldn't answer it. For me, the heart wants what the heart wants, it's kind of different every time.

Considering this game has been in the hands of not 1, not 2, but 3 different developers, I do not expect this to be good, or even decent. Atari being the publisher doesn't help either. I'll be quite happy to be wrong, I'd love to play a good RCT game, but I'll let others be the guinea pigs for this game. I'm staying way clear of this at launch.

Sadly, I can't speak on the Monaco comparison, since I have not played that game. Sorry I can't be helpful in that regard. :(
A New BATTLETECH Game From Harebrained Schemes Is On Kickstarter, Funded Already

Like you, I backed this. I haven't backed a kickstarter in a long while as I've gotten burnt out on crowdfunding, but Harebrained Schemes have a proven trackrecord and I've enjoyed all the Shadowrun games they made immensely. Plus, I played BATTLETECH when I was young and really enjoyed the game. I'm looking forward to messing around with the loadouts of various mechs again.

Quoting: ricki42Backed this already. Harebrained Schemes have experience with both kickstarter and Linux games, I love what they did with Shadowrun, so they've definitely earned my trust. The $1 million stage 2 goal is a shoo-in, they'll likely hit that goal today, possibly within a couple hours.
This kickstarter is going really well, so it's looking good for the $1,000,000 single-player campaign stretch goal, which, in a way, is the real goal.

It's sad that GOG still doesn't have the Linux version (only Windows and Mac), so I didn't have a choice but to get this on Steam. Hopefully GOG gets the Linux version soon.

I scooped this up and I can say that it has so far (I've only played just over an hour) run flawlessly on my Intel/Nvidia Xubuntu rig. Also, the game is breathtakingly gorgeous; the hand drawn art is spectacular and the animations on Thora are superb. From what I've played, the game is mostly exploration and boss fights. There are dangers to dodge on your travels and you do fight some regular enemies, but the boss fights are the real draw as far as the combat is concerned. They get quite epic.

Oh well, I wasn't going to buy it today anyway, too much on the plate as it. Still a shame, though.

Anyhow, this is why graphical options are always a good thing, people can turn them on or off to their liking. :)

Quoting: CybolicI think it really helps with the immersion. I usually dislike it in other games, but it fits very well here, in my opinion.I'm with you on this one. I usually dislike chromatic aberration in games as well, but I think it works really well in this particular game and so I left it on. It does strain my eyes a bit after a while, but that kind of works for me in this game, it fits, it adds to the weight on my mind the game puts through the foreboding that, in my opinion, Frictional does really well.
