Valve have now pushed out all the recent beta changes in Steam Play's Proton to everyone

Quoting: officerniceWell... I just moved and won't have internet for a month. So I won't get to play with it until then... :( Gotta have fiber digged in. Looking forward to playing around with Skyrim and following the communities tests. :)
Where do you live? I live in Poland and if I am outside my home and want to play I can always share connection from my phone. And I have "unlimited" internet (full speed up to 100GB, then no more than 1mbps) on 2 phones for moreless 15 euro. Can't you share internet from your phone or is it expensive where you live?

Quoting: HoriAny idea when the next batch of whitelisted Steam Play games is coming up? :D Or rather... will it come at all before the Steam Play release, or just after?
I would suggest to vote up this issue [External Link] as you are not the only one that wonders how can we know which titles and when are going to be whitelisted...

Linux will get another fighting game with Super Combat Fighter currently on Kickstarter
13 Sep 2018 at 6:58 am UTC

Quoting: liamdaweI'm talking about native games here of course, not Steam Play which isn't even officially out yet since it's still in beta and under heavy development.
Sure, I am aware of that. I don't know why, but I think about Proton all the time :D

Quoting: melkemindWell, if we're talking about Steam Play, you can't leave out Shaolin vs Wutang. :D
Of course I am, however I am not into this genre, so I didn't even know, that such a title exists :)

An interview with the developer of DXVK, part of what makes Valve's Steam Play tick

Quoting: jensArkham City has a similar confirmed workaround (haven't tried it myself) https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/309#issuecomment-415633734 [External Link]
I am the author of last compatibility report and I can confirm this workaround works. Just change OS to WinXP with winecfg, press play and wait little bit long during first run, while .NET is installed (about 45 minutes). After that Batman Arkham City works fine.

Quoting: crabelI think, Proton is great.
+1
Quoting: crabelMy thanks to everybody who has contributed to this. First of all, the Wine guys, Valve, Mr. Philip Rebohle here and of course all those other people that made this possible.
+1

I am really happy with the state of the Linux gaming. However I have one fear though. What is going to happen if Microsoft releases new Windows and they force DX12 on it? Will it be simple to add it to DXVK, because Vulkan and DX12 are similar, or will it be like reinventing the wheel once again?

P.S. Is Philip Rebohle registered on our site as YoRHa-2B?

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Seeker, Slayer, Survivor DLC teaser is out, releasing this month
10 Sep 2018 at 2:49 pm UTC

I am just installing base game. White march part I and II were decent, however I don't want to wait 3 weeks for DLC, so I guess I will start without it...

Planetary Annihilation removed from sale to focus on TITANS, new test build on the way
6 Sep 2018 at 3:03 pm UTC

Quoting: liamdawe
Quoting: lucifertdarkI thought they removed it from sale back when they first released TITANS?
They kinda messed it all up, but I'm glad they finally done it properly. What they're doing now, is what they should have done from the beginning.
I can't agree. I paid for the original game and after Titans was released I was left with abandoned version of the game. The problem is that it isn't running well on my rig and I doubt today for me it is worth to pay even 10 percent of original price. And I believe this 90 percent discount will vanish and when I upgrade hardware, I will be forced to pay whole price. But let's see how it goes.

I do respect, however it won't count as Linux purchase. I already picked up Witcher on Steam and I am going to play it on Linux in 14 days just to count as Linux buyer (I already finished the game 3 years ago, but I purchased it drm free outside Steam). I also bought Pillars of Eternity 2 in one of local stores (there is no port, so Paradox will receive their money). For this month I am good.
However I must admit, that after Proton release I look at Linux titles + those that run nice on Wine and start on Proton. At some point those games will run great on Linux.

What are you playing this weekend?
2 Sep 2018 at 7:12 am UTC

Quoting: EhvisSo many Proton games played. I haven't done anything with it apart from a few tests. Native FTW!

Except that I was playing Jackbox for the entire evening in a birthday stream. :D
Sure, native is the best. But after I have seen how many gamers are listing here Proton, it is great, that Wine gaming will count as Linux one for Valve. It will better present market share. Also another big advantage of Proton is the fact that it will allow people, who are not fans of Wine configuring, to play Wine titles without tweaking (Proton is not there yet of course, but some games already "just work". No prefix creation, no winetricks operation, just click and play).
