GOL Asks: What have you been playing recently?

This year I've spent my time on Broforce and Pillars of Eternity.
I've paid 5,99 euro on Steam sale and it was the best decission I could have made.
However, I loved it so much I finished it in 2 days - Steam shows that I've played the game for 10 hours. With current price it will be 1,39 euro / hour cost, however it's worth it.
Regarding issues I had playing only on Linux - sometimes levels take much time to load with any indicator but black screen being displayed - up to 30 seconds, which was annoying. And I had 3 crashes to the desktop.
I was not playing multiplayer but seems game is perfect for cooperation, like Metal Slug series.
Having all this written, I can say that the answer to your question is: Yes.

Quoting: YoshiTheFox347Is Broforce worth the money? The game is golden, one of the best games I've been playing recently.

Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition for Linux & SteamOS is being held up (updated)

I cannot forget, that Larian Studios 1,5 year ago promised Mac and Linux port "just after" Windows version, then lied that they want to provide us Enhanced Edition (but what they wanted to do was ps4 and xone ports) and now they just give us excuses. It's pathetic.

Quoting: tmtvlI'm also a software developer and I know that when you take money for product that you promise on multiple platforms, you do QA on all of them from the very beginning. So you code using API that is supported on all of them, not an API that works on one platform and after everything is finished on one platform you port it to other. But even if you decide to go with porting route, you don't work on other stuff until you deliver promised ports.Quoting: NyamiouThis type of bug can take anywhere from 5 minutes to an eternity to fix, I hope it wont be an eternity. At least someone here is familiar with software development.

I vote for new functionality on GoL - marking tags that describe articles you won't see. I would love to have DoS tag and to add it to this new forbidden tags list.
Larian crossed the line, and I just don't want to hear about this title anymore.

I had one issue so far - first try crashed the game and the Steam itself. All next tries were successful and game was running fine. Performance-wise it looks good (on my pathetic rig - i5 2410m, 10GB RAM, gt 540m - game runs fluently on low settings which is fine).
Never had a chance to play it before, but so far looks cool.

Quoting: Purple Library Guyhe draws conclusions more generally about the state of SteamOS gaming from the shortness of the list. For the rest of us, though, it's pretty damned hard to compare the author's personal list with the broader state of gaming.Never wanted to offend anyone, and all the conclusions are my personal, I am glad that some of You agree with me while others don't.
Quoting: Purple Library GuyWhen was Civilization: Beyond Earth released? I'd pretty surely rate that AAA.December 2014

Quoting: Crazy PenguinI don't care about this so called "AAA" games, as they are mostly overpriced cr-AAA-p. Indies and smaller developer studios making way better games. They don't annoy me with bullshit DRM or stupid Pre-Order stuff. No Day-1-Contentpatches for which I have to download several GBs before I can play. No AlwaysOn sh**, and so on. Sorry, but I still don't see the point of cr-AAA-p games.I respect your attitude. But none of us wants pathetic way of product delivery on Linux. We just want good products. Sorry for repeating Witcher 3 multiple times, but this game was delivered in very reasonable way. Product, that was maintained after release, received 16 free dlc (even if none of them were valuable) that had no impact on standard version and one DLC with new campaign. From my point of view that is fair. But I agree, there were issues like download patch that is > 8 GB big, but on PS4 you can do it seamless, during the game (If you don't need to play multiplayer).
Quoting: Crazy PenguinCompanies like EA, Ubisoft & Activision will not support Linux in the near future. They have their own stores, which are in competition to Valve. We all understand this situation, and it's healthy. While I know EA (Origin) and Ubisoft (UPlay) platforms I'm not aware what Activision offers. But anyway take a look, that nobody listed titles like FIFA (EA), Far Cry (Ubisoft) or Battlefield (Activision). We just discuss products of companies that can cooperate with Valve. But of course, it is just something that we want.
Quoting: Crazy PenguinAnd for the wanted racing game. Here is another one.Yep, I've listed this game in the article. And I am really happy that it seems that Codemasters is on the board. Hope other titles of this manufacturer will be ported as well.

Anyway, all the sentences here are my personal opinion, and I wrote them few days ago so I may be wrong at some topics.
This page is just a great way to share opinion with many people that are interested in Linux gaming.
Regarding Torchlight in general there is a weird story of their ports, because Torchlight 1 was ported to Linux in one of the Humble Bundles AFAIR, but it was delivered as .deb package which is not compatible with newest distributions anymore (Correct me guys if I'm wrong). Would be great to play Torchlight 1 on Linux through Steam.

Quoting: XzylJust a few criticisms, if you're interestedAlways :)
Quoting: Xzylfirstly maybe my memory is wrong but I don't remember the release of BS:I the way you do. Most people including myself (even on AMD hardware) praised the game for it's playability especially after Witcher2 had such a rocky release (that situation improved greatly too). Sure the AMD FPS cap was bad but more than playable. I don't remember many posts bitching about it being a wrapper but more impressed it was.I was going frequently through VP github issue tracker (here [External Link] and for me there were more people affected with the freeze issues than for example on Spec Ops: the Line. But you may be on some level right - this game is for sure more popular, so that's why more people reported the issue.

Quoting: XzylSecond your list seems... Focused on more of a "what I like or bust" type of feel without the positives.Never said it's the right way to look back for me glass is always half empty (either I know it is always full, even if half of it is just an air ;) ).
Quoting: Xzylpositives such as Dota2(reborn) launched this year and is one of the top played games on steam and plays amazing since it's engine upgrade. Yes technically not a new game but it really is with an engine upgrade and the switch to more modes than just the DOTA2 map.The problem is I don't play DOTA2. That's why I am not interested in this title. I totally agree that this was very important moment of the year, but it was not a release. But still, I'm with you, it's great that Valve did that update.
Quoting: XzylOne last thing about TL2, it maybe older (should be noted we got it just shortly after the MacOS port) but since it's creators were the original blizzard north team (after they were bought) and did D1 and D2, this is a top tier game that was smooth AF. I sent Runic E-Mails and pleaded on their forum to bring TL and TL2 (after it was announced) to Linux having these games made me VERY happy regardless of the initial lag. So while it may not be your cup of tea this was a milestone for my collection.I have played a lot of Torchlight 2 back in the days when I was still dual-booting. My first issue with the port was that my game was missing shadows even if they were maxed up in settings. It looked really bad, but was fixed after few days. On Linux version I've spent only few hours, for some reason I just stopped to play it.
Quoting: XzylLast note I am one of those sad people waiting for D : OS as a kickstarter backer Larian really cut me but it would be nice to play it sometime.I totally get your attitude. I was waiting for this game, but I'm not anymore. I just have an impression that promise of Linux port was a Larian way to get free credit. I have nothing against people who will invest their money on Larian product, just I am not going to, unless there is a 95% discount on their product.
Quoting: XzylOther than that I think your article touches on the elephant in the room.Great that someone interprets it in this (meant) way :). We have this conversation very often in some articles comments, but it's not very common that we have an article that tries to look
Quoting: XzylNo MKX No SF4/5/anything No GTA5 No Fallout 4 we're really lacking flavor of the month top tier AA games which really hurts the platform in my opinion and sadly I don't see that problem changing anytime soon. That exactly what I think as well.
Quoting: XzylGood work nice submission! Thanks :)
Quoting: FeistNice recap of 2015.Thanks :)
Quoting: XzylThe one title I miss from the list is "SOMA", not really an aaa-title but still produced by a medium-sized studio and quite successfull.I agree that SOMA was well received, I just didn't play it and won't play it I guess. Just not my cup of tea.
