DiRT Showdown Updated For Linux, Should Fix It Up Nicely
1 Sep 2015 at 6:24 pm UTC

Unfortunately fix does not work for dualshock 4 (both triggers stop to work), but old option makes me able to use old rotate both angles trick. However, as I said yesterday - I do admire that they work on their product and they talk to the community.

Arma 3 Available For Linux In A Beta

Quoting: liamdaweYou know what, fuck it. I would like to support VP's effort here, purchased.
Good move Liam. I know we have whole wrapper vs native port discussion under every VP related post, and I don't want to start one here. But there is something that we have to admire in VP - Peter Mulholland and his team are trying to respond to every reported issue and they are open to discussion regarding their product (Peter responded to me for one of my issue on 22:30 GT on Saturday :D ). And - what's most important - they are working on their ports and their product - eon wrapper. From my perspective they deserve to be supported by us.

Btw. I wonder - @Liam will your purchase be considered as Linux purchase if game does not have Steam OS logo?

Unreal Tournament Has Been Updated Again, Here's Another Look On Linux

In the previous video gamę looked awful, but know it became beautiful :)

I start to think that it will be must to have for fast fps lovers, and that's great :)

What Have You Been Playing Recently, And What Do You Think About It?
25 Aug 2015 at 5:53 pm UTC

I've spent most of the gaming time while playing Witcher 3 on PS4, but I did not forget about Linux gaming. Unfortunately I don't have very good impression from last weeks:
- Shadow of Mordor performs very bad on my machine (but I was aware that it will happen, because of the NVidia 540m poor GPU)
- Dirt Showdown - not a bad port, but for some reason I see missing tiers and encounter minor gamepad issues (sometimes gamepad does not work on the very beginning of the event, and I have to restart it). And in general - except normal race events, game is little bit weird...
- Victor Vran - biggest disappointment from my point of view (@crackhash maybe this small "review" will be valuable for you :) ). It is very hard to stop play Witcher 3 and start play Victor Vran, so this may have very big influence on my opinion, but the beginning of the game is boring, battle in game does not give me very much fun and dialogs with picture of the person that is currently speaking makes me feel like this game was done by too few people.

In general I currently collect games for my library, when there are more good linux games I will buy new hardware. And if Witcher 3 would be available I would already had one, but instead I had to buy PS4 ;) But still, I'm not going to stop gaming on linux because it's awsame!

DiRT Showdown Released For Linux Thanks To Virtual Programming, Some Thoughts

Ok so in my case performance-wise game looks ok. In-game benchmark gave me 31.1 avg fps and max 37.4 on NVidia 540m (355.06) , i5 2410m @2.3 GHz, 10GB RAM, Ubuntu 15.04.

I did not encounter any crash, but played only 30 minutes.

Issues I had:
- Couldn't play a game because of 0 bytes game size - solved by VP guy at day one - great support here.
- Had to do weird analogs moving to make dualshock 4 work (not solved, but they say I will have to do it only once - let's see). Still it's not cool that it happens in multiple ports.
Issues I have:
- There are no tyres in most of the cars while racing which is little bit weird...

And still - this is much worse game than DIRT 3... But anyway - better this game than no other. Not going to support Linux porting company with my money this time (Shadow of Mordor and Victor Vran already bought this month), but as I say - DIRT 3 would/will receive extra money from my side if it will be released.

Still not able to play the game but just need to share one thought regarding Liam's sentence:
Gamepads can be a little strange, but my F310 mostly works fine. I say mostly as now and then I need to rotate both sticks around in the menu, and then it's somehow calibrated again.
It was the same for me in Spec Ops: the Line and as far as I remember also many of you reported it in Bioshock: Infinite. I don't understand why VP guys do not listen to us - or in other words - why do they release games that everytime have the same issue.

Quoting: frostwork@wojtek88,
looks like Dirt Showdown from an old humble bundle aren't covered yet: http://steamcommunity.com/app/201700/discussions/0/530649887201050814/#c530649887216478309 [External Link]
Thanks frostwork - that's why I love the community (especially linux one)! You're not the only one who "googles" information and people are helpful.
Hope it will be fixed soon, but at least I know that it's not my configuration issue. Will wait to give this game a try.

Quoting: wojtek88@Pangachat the same for me - in my case on Ubuntu. I already had this game in library and when I try to install it it does no Disk space required, available and estimated download time - have anyone experienced such an issue before?
Had that too, just restart steam client and it was ok.
Not true in my case, Steam client restart, OS restart, game cache integrity verification - none of them helps.
