Battle Chasers: Nightwar has silently removed mentions of Linux support a few hours before release (updated)
4 Oct 2017 at 11:38 am UTC

We are working on the Linux version and hope to have it in decent shape in the next few weeks.
Let me propose a fun game.
They used statement "few weeks". For me few means from 2 to 7, maybe 8. But let's assume that we are kind and we say that we wait 10 weeks to verify what they say.
It looks like 2 weeks ago their were certain that they will provide Linux version at launch. So 10 weeks more sounds like a super huge window. Let's revisit their steam page at 13.12.2017 and verify if they are worth to receive Linux gamers money or should we forget about them and avoid any game they develop.

According to netmarketshare Linux hit 6.91% market share last month, higher than Mac

While I would like those numbers to be true, I am really skeptical.
Before you start to celebrate, just think for a moment. Was there any big release in Linux that would make people start using it?
From my perspective there was none, so it's hard for me to believe that suddenly people started to use Linux without a reason and now there are more than twice Linux users than month before.
This netmarketshare... Who are they? How do they calculate marketshare? Maybe their results are indicating other thing going on. I don't know how do they measure marketshare, but for example, let's assume they are collecting user agent string from multiple pages. It may be indicator, that there is a new botnet of infected Linux machines that are visiting those pages. Other scenario is that there are new crawlers running on one host having dynamic external IP and they do not handle it correctly, hey have just changed the way they are calculating results, etc, etc.
There are many potential scenarios, such a significant grow without a reason makes no sense to be honest.

A look at some great Linux & SteamOS racing games available in 2017

I would add to the list:
- DIRT: Showdown
- Micro Machines World Series.
Plus it's worth to add that I've manage to complete all races in DIRT 3: Complete Edition with wine 1.7.43 playing on dualshock 4 with perfect experience.

Creative Assembly are having a Steam sale, some good Linux games going cheap

I finally managed to get Tyranny for less than 25 Euro on one of polish stores (muve.pl) with Steam key. I played it for 2 hours so far, so no much, but I can already tell, that from technical perspective it is much better Linux version of a game than Pillars of Eternity.
The problem is that the idea of having to do the Overlords will and to be on the evil side is not so great for me and the whole plot is much worse than the one from PoE. Let's see how it goes later, looking forward for another long adventure with RPG from Obsidian guys!

Did you miss Shadow Warrior for free last month? It's free again on Steam this time

What the hell are you waiting for?
Waiting for the option to pay for it I imagine. We do want SW2 as well, don't we. :D
Well I just bought that two years ago, but - sadly - still no linux version :). The second part is worse though IMO.
AFAIK the game was released 10 months ago - did you preorder or fund this game?

Wednesday Madness, a quick look at some good Linux gaming deals

Quoting: chtkBundle Stars is way too on point the last couple of weeks.

The Total War: ATTILA bundle last week. And now the Baldur's Gate bundle.

My bank account weeps.
In this case I guess both Attila and Baldur's series are considered in-house ports, so you're good to go with Bundle Stars. But AFAIK very often Bundle Stars sells Windows keys, so if Linux port was done by Feral / VP / Aspyr, they do not get a penny from Bundle Stars.

The other issue I have is "madness deal" for Baldur's Gate bundle -> 2 games, both above 15 years old, both "enhanced" in a way they are considered worse than original games. I don't understand why they are being sold for such a big price, while other "good old games" one can buy with much more attractive price.
In general basic price for D&D games seems too high from my perspective.

I would pay 60 euro for each D&D game remake that would look like Pillars of Eternity. I don't see a reason why I should pay so much for D&D games that are only recompiled in order to support bigger resolutions.

Sociable Soccer, from the designer of Sensible Soccer could see a Linux version with enough support

Quoting: wleoncioI won't buy it, but I hope the port happens and it sells like hotcakes on Linux. With a success case like this, we might draw the attention of Konami and have them port some PES game (which is still not my kind of game, but something I think Linux should have in its AAA portfolio).
Regardless success of potential port of Sociable Soccer, we should have Konami on Linux board.
Each year I pay over 50 euro for PES series game, I would like to start to pay for Linux version of this game.
And of course I would love to see first Metal Gear Solid on Linux.
The dream come true would be remake of MGS on Linux...

Sorry, I started to dream :)

Griftlands, the RPG from Klei Entertainment could see Linux support in future
21 Aug 2017 at 11:00 am UTC

Klei Entertainment! employees do perfect job - I finished Shank, Shank 2 and Mark of the Ninja and I had zero issues with those games (I've tested Shank with Steam Link App for Samsung and it was best running game from all I've tested). I've given a try to Inivisible Inc. but after 3 hours I didn't fell into the game, so I haven't played it for a while. I have also over 100 hours recorded in Don't Starve and Don't Starve: Together.

Long story short - if Klei does the port you don't have to be affraid - from quality point of view it will be golden.

What have you been playing on Linux lately and what do you think?
10 Aug 2017 at 6:59 pm UTC

So recently I've finished Pillars of Eternity + White March Part 1 and 2. According to Steam it took me 195 hours, however I don't know how the time was measured (sometimes I left game and Steam running while leaving home).
The game is one of the best games I played ever and I seek for Tyranny with better price (I need to go down with cash I spend on games).

Regarding very common opinion in this thread that Broforce is very buggy - I don't remember to have serious problems with this game. According to achievements on Steam I've finished the game in January 2016 and it was great. Sure - there were some issues, like long loading times and I guess 2 crashes during whole play-through, but I considered the game great and I played on Linux.

Recently I've verified that Broforce and few other games are playable through Samsung TV Steam Link app.

Except Linux gaming I was playing a lot of PES 2018 online Beta on PS4. Would love to see Konami titles on Linux at some point.
Have anyone verified how does the Konami titles run on newest Wine? I remember being able to play demo of PES 2015 in 2014 through Wine.

After I've finished Pillars of Eternity I eagerly look for Tyranny for less than 25 euro (a per-month limit I set to myself after realizing that I've spent over 1k euro for games only in last 4 years).
Let me know if you see it purchasable for Europe. Of course I am interested only in official stores, so don't mention G2A, Kinguin or other re-sellers.
