The Linux version of 'The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep' to be released with the Director's Cut

The Mac and Linux builds are making great progress in co-development and parity to our main version with our development builds and current feature production pipeline. We have a full-time dedicated team for each platform (Mac & Linux), and those teams are working concurrently with our main features dev teams.
I wouldn't wonder if they call off Mac/Linux ports for their future games after reading their development approach. They have one game split across 3 different platform teams, which seems to keep their changes in their own branches. If the game doesn't sell super well they can easily say: "See it's not worth to develop for Linux, the team was more expansive than the copies sold."

I don't know but if I would develop for multiple platforms I would keep my code in one base and have only different pipelines for game compilation, qa and release. Also I think using Unreal engine for cross-platform was a major mistake.

Quoting: Elvanex

Quoting: Elvanex8 years after I initially purchased it, I'm still playing the hell out of Mount and Blade: Warband. :) I finally hit the 1,000 hour mark last week as well, and that's not even counting the 200 or so hours I played before I got it on Steam. lol.
I don't know about that. I bought it a few years ago because of the good ratings on Steam.
It was pretty buggy. Often I couldn't finish quests, a proper tutorial was missing.
Quests were often the same (bring letter from a to b).
For me it felt quite unfinished although fighting was some fun.
Is this game really playable and enjoyable without using mods? Most of the time people say they use mods.
It's definitely not a game for everyone. And while I think the Native game is great, mods are definitely the primary thing extending the playtime. However, mods in Warband are not quite the same as in other games. There are a few that focus on tweaking/expanding the base game, but most are actually full conversions to entirely new worlds with their own features. :) There are mods for all kinds of historical settings, as well as tons of fantasy based ones. There's mods for Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Warhammer, and D&D, as well as some that create entirely new worlds complete with their own history/lore. :) My personal favorite is Prophecy of Pendor, which imo does a better job of lore/world building than even some fantasy novels. :) And that's just in single player! lol. If you mostly just like the combat, there are lots of great multiplayer mods as well. :) I'm not as familiar with these as I mostly play single player, but some popular examples include: Persistent World, which essentially turns the game into a medieval sandbox mmorpg somewhat similar to life is feudal, or reign of kings. and Full Invasion 2, which puts up to 200 players against wave after wave of ai, and incorporates a variety of factions/maps from various themes. :) Again, it's not a game for everyone, so I get if you decide it's just not your cup of tea.
Thanks for the detailed answer. Maybe I will give it another try. I liked the singleplayer in the vanilla game but I was mainly fighting bandits and was pretty clueless what to with the factions. Maybe there are some mods to improve this.

Quoting: ExpalphalogChroma Squad.

I was a little iffy about it at first - I tend to dislike Japanese pop culture (my tolerance for 'wierd for no reason' is really low), I was just getting too old for Power Rangers when they first hit so I only watched like the first season of the first series, and I am not a fan of games going for the retro console aesthetic unless there's a good reason for it. But I love turn-based combat and it kept piling up good reviews so I am finally getting around to it. And I frickin love it.
In the beginning I really liked the game concept but at season 3 or 4 it became too boring for me.
Every season, it's basically the same over and over (apart from better items).
Nothing bores me more than repeating game concepts. They should have ended the story faster. I left this game unfinished.

From time to time Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Great story, gameplay and graphics. I can only recommend it, it's one of the few AAA games we have and it's often pretty cheap (<10€).

Most of the time a play Dota 2. It's one of my favorites. Easy to learn but hard to master but so much fun.

Six years ago today, Steam was released for Linux - Happy Birthday
14 Feb 2019 at 2:39 pm UTC

Congratulation and thanks to all for the hard work, especially @ Valve.
Linux improved on all fronts (graphics drivers, the Desktop, gaming) in the last years.
I hope the improvement goes on and more people switch to Linux. With more people we will get more games.
Also I hope Valve gives us another game or two in the next years. And plz no VR or cardgame or battle royal. :P

Damn, this could be the right discount for finally getting Rimworld or Factorio, which is practically never on sale. GG, Valve...*peeks into pocket and counts if money is left* :S:

Quoting: GuestWell, some Linux users. I personally benefit neither from steam nor from proton....
But you might use Wine or the SDL as well?
Maybe your using RADV/ANV, Mesa or Vulkan?
If so, you also benefit from Valve's work for Proton.
