War Thunder adds stealth tech, ray tracing and graphics upgrades in the Firebirds update

I wish they released a version that is a traditional system, you pay once and get access to everything, no grinding needed. I have no patience for those pay-to-win games, nor for the extortion prices of bugged DCS modules.

I guess I just miss the days of IL-2 1946...

Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Greece lands December 4, SCS continue updating legacy art assets for both truck sims

I bought it way back when it released on Linux. It is kinda strange how you can get entertained by something that is not fast nor violent. It also gave me great respect for truck drivers. Since then I do what I can to make their life easier on the roads.

I wished SCS just put more effort on the gameplay side, introducing more things to do than just simply going from A to B. Getting out of your truck anywhere in the map would be nice, to make a walkaround before a trip, punctured tires, small irregularities that would get you a ticket, together with functional truck wash shops, of which already there is plenty on the game, just waiting to be activated. There is a lot of small things in the real truck world that could be implemented in the game.

On the game engine side, I wished the accelerated its development more, since even with all the updates, it still look a bit dated. I understand they don't have the kind of money Rockstar have to make top notch graphics in such large game, but their progress from DirectX 9 level to DirectX 11 is painfully slow. I and a lot of people just wished they just go to Vulkan already and start a bigger overall progress.

The Linux port is really nice to have, but the performance is really bad compared with the Windows port. I am under the impression they are still stuck in the "NvidiaGL" mode, with those cards performing considerably better than AMD ones, even with all the Linux driver progress AMD made over the years. At least it was like this the last time I tried it on a Nvidia card a couple years ago. It always suffered from stuttering, something that don't happen when you play it on proton.

But overall I still love this thing, and still put money on DLCs to help pay for the game updates.

Half-Life 2 free to keep until November 18th, Episodes One & Two now included with a huge update

Got mine in CD form, 5 of them. Still remember being pissed off about having to have internet connection to install it, since at the time I didn't had broadband at home yet, having to bring my PC to a friend's house to install it, together with that thing called Steam, a stupid online game store.

Took forever to unpack all of it from the CDs, and at one point my friend made a joke about the progressing bar regressing, which it actually did a couple minutes later.

But in the end the game was ground breaking, and the anger during the first install was mostly forgiven considering the quality of the game.

Fan-made Half-Life 2 Episode 3 demo arrives with Project Borealis: Prologue now on Steam

As I was fearing, people are already reporting a lot of performance issues. Nothing surprising really, since multiple professional studios had trouble with UE5. I would be shocked if people working with it in their free time would achieve better optimization.

But beggars can't be choosers, so I welcome any attempt to bring closure to the number 3.

HORI Steam Controller releases in the USA in December

Well, I'm not trading my 8bitdo Pro 2 for that. While I understand the frustration of not complete Linux support, it is a genuine good controller and it is my weapon of choice for anything that is not FPS games, of which the trackpad of the Steam Controller is still king.

The BenQ beCreatus GR10 USB4 Steam Deck Dock is simply great

Quoting: PyrateIt should be a crime to have the usb C cable sticking out from the side like that.
Probably because it is just a notebook dock with a glued Steam Deck stand.

The UE5 means bad performance overall and potentially lots of bugs on Linux. Too bad they chose that path. Source 2 is quite capable and could have been a much better choice, although I feel they go to the UE road because of developer familiarity with it.

I got this in my library, don't even remember when I got it nor how much it was, but it must have been one of those 90% discount purchase just to sake of it, since it is a popular game and I must have been curious what the fuss was about.

Tried to play it only once, felt it was a little on the broken side on Linux. Didn't even played it much. Not my cup of tea.

It is for games like this that there is so much indie games out there. Too many people trying to hit gold, but only a few manage to do it.

Valve makes a big improvement for Native Linux games in a Steam Beta update

I noticed a lot of older Linux native games stopped working on modern distros, both indies and Windows games ported by third parties. And not always the Linux runtime options helped. Unfortunately I had to retreat to Proton, which is not a good thing. Keep Linux native alive!!1!
