Valve wins legal battle against patent troll Rothschild and associated companies

Valve have big pockets and can afford to drag this in courts for years. But there are patent trolls going after the small companies and try to defeat them only trough legal costs.

Godot Engine suffering from lots of "AI slop" code submissions

Quoting: Liam DaweI heard about this the other day, because Ars Technica then ran (and removed [External Link] ) an article, which used AI which entirely made up quotes about it all.
I was talking to a professor and he told a funny story about AI. One of his sloppy students delivered a good paper on a subject. He was surprised and thought he may had misjudged him. Then he started to check the quotes... One of them put the student as co-autor on a paper published on the late 60's, together with a famous researcher. Of course the sloppy student was too lazy to proof read the ChatGPT work, and simply Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V it. The professor called the student as asked how was it to work with such renowned researcher...

AMD say the Steam Machine is "on track" for an early 2026 release

The biggest troll Valve could do is to launch it on march 3, together with HL3. But unfortunately is not gonna happen in today's situation.

Steam Machine & Steam Frame FAQ - RAM and storage crisis to blame for no pricing or dates
5 Feb 2026 at 1:36 am UTC

They can probably launch the controller this year, but I'm not holding my breath. As the Steam Machine itself, I don't think it is gonna happen with today's market. I don't think Valve will sell hardware at a loss hopping for the best at the end of the year.

HUNTDOWN: OVERTIME looks like a glorious follow-up to HUNTDOWN from 2021

Oh yesssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!111!!!

I put over 130 hours on this game, and it is just a run and gun, but man do they got that one right. I even got the soundtrack. A must have for anyone who likes the 80's stile.

Unfortunately looks like they will put some modern gameplay shenanigans on this one, but I'm just happy they are making a sequel. And it will have a Linux port too!

"Gamers are used to owning their games. That's the consumer shift that needs to happen"
"So it's about feeling comfortable with not owning your game"
Uhum. Tell me how that worked out for you.

KDE Plasma 6.6 will finally stop the system sleeping when gaming with a controller
7 Jan 2026 at 3:22 pm UTC Likes: 1

Well, my systems (I use KDE exclusively) are configured to never go to sleep when plugged in. Screen will turn off after 1 hour without activity. But I have never had it doing so while playing a game or watching something.

007 First Light gets PC specifications released and that's a lot of RAM needed

GoldenEye for N64 run like crap, but it was a revolutionary game on a limited platform. What this game have of so special to need so much RAM?

I will not be surprised if the answer is DRM related.

The hardware have potential, and their Windows drivers are getting attention.

But in Linux, their drivers are still very immature. They do fine on synthetic benchmarks, but in actual games they lag behind, like rear view mirror behind (right Pat?). It is clear they don't have dedicated developers for gaming, and everybody must have been allocated to the AI crazy efforts. And to make things worse, if memory is correct, they fired a couple developers from the Linux team last year.

So no, I would not get one of their new products until they get their shit together on the Linux front.

After multiple delays Terminator 2D: NO FATE has launched with Linux support and Steam Deck Verified

There is two excuses for the price. One, it is a licensed game. They had to pay royalties for the owners the Terminator franchise. Two, they also licensed the "Bad To The Bone" song, which obviously had to pay royalties.

Lets not forget the original SNES/Genesis game launched for double the price, over 30 years ago, a bad game that don't even compare to this in any metric.

I'm not saying this is a cheap game, just that a equivalent indie game don't have to pay royalties for life to anybody. This one does.
