Divinity: Original Sin may soon work with Mesa drivers
8 January 2017 at 1:42 pm UTC

Quoting: liamdaweThe end result is the same, users don't have to fuss around and search around for solutions.
I agree. Let's hope Larian makes the next step which renders this hack unnecessary.

Edit: About unnecessary things – was it really necessary to drag this discussion to Twitter and even change my message by cherry-picking and ignoring the term "IMHO"? :|

Quoting: liamdaweThe point is as stated, not making users resort to hacks to get a game working on open source drivers.
I know ... but changing a configuration value should not be called "hack" IMHO. DriConf isn't a driver hacking tool either, it's a configuration utility.

Edit: More informations about DRI's configuration infrastructure

- Improved interactions between the Steam runtime and host distribution libraries, which should let Steam work out of the box with open-source graphics drivers on modern distributions
[...]

This is what I am expecting from someone who claims to be a moderator.

Arrgh. This topic feeds my anger. I'm outta here :/

Wine Staging updated, allows you to play DOOM on Linux

Quoting: boltronicsThe problem with Dying Light is that it doesn't work under Mesa at all due to using OpenGL compatibility profiles that Mesa does not yet support (and have no current plans to support), and the performance of it under AMDGPU-Pro is horrendous! When it can run under Wine, that will surely perform better. Heck, it couldn't be any worse!
Thanks for the info. I almost asked one of my friends to buy it for me.

Quoting: skinnyrafA game from a historically Linux-friendly developer, using OpenGL and now Vulkan, DRM dropped... and not working on Linux because of the policy of the publisher? No, thank you, not going to spend money on it.
Aye, that's also a reason that holds me back from buying DOOM.
