David Rosen of Wolfire Games explains why they're taking on Valve in a lawsuit
7 May 2021 at 9:50 am UTC

Quoting: LiamDSpeaking to Valve, Rosen said "they replied that they would remove Overgrowth from Steam if I allowed it to be sold at a lower price anywhere, even from my own website without Steam keys and without Steam’s DRM" and so that "would make it impossible for me, or any game developer, to determine whether or not Steam is earning their commission".
Now that's a quite understandable complaint IMHO. Thanks for clarification!

Streisand effect ftw :D

Quoting: GuestCheers - to be absolutely clear I have no moral objections and really dislike the dmca slapdown to begin with, it's just a risk thing that I've seen go sour before.
While I don't think that they can do much harm with their DMCA in the UK, I'd also be ... cautious.

Many Steam games can in fact run without Steam being installed on the system. Most of the rest will work with some random replacement .so :x
