Quoting: Liam DaweI found out on Christmas that a 980 GTX chokes terribly on the Index.Quoting: orochi_kyo"Prepare for Half-Life: Alyx"Nice overreaction, orochi_kyo.
This is what I call a dark sense of humor, knowing Alyx was made only for the 1% of the Steam player base.
Cool to live in the first world, have 500-1000$ to buy a VR headset, while the rest of the world somehow PC gamers have to choose between buying that game on sale or paid food or medical bills.
Nice joke Liam, enjoy Alyx.
I've been pretty clear myself, in multiple articles, that I can't even afford VR personally right now. I understand not everyone can, but plenty of people do have it and the amount that do is at least comparable to the Linux market share now. I'm not going to ignore it. We're a news site, we post news and sometimes I play with the title like I did here.
As others said, VR prices have come down and they will continue to if it becomes more popular. You don't have to have the Index to play it, a second-hand Vive would do and the prices of those have gone down dramatically.

Quoting: CybolicI got mine from these guys. https://www.amedia-computer.com/en/15-amiga [External Link] They posted on Facebook to get on a pre-order list for when they were available. I've done the same for the V4SA!Quoting: slaapliedjeI politely and jealously hate you a bit, just to know ;)Quoting: razing32I have two A4000s and an A500 (with the Vampire v2 waiting to get my Checkmate case!)Quoting: CybolicCool.Quoting: razing32Yup! Have been building it into one of the lovely new Checkmate 1500+ cases [External Link] and sticking upgrades on it for the past month or so.Quoting: CybolicYou have an old A500 up and running ?Quoting: MaathThis reminds me a lot of Deluxe Paint 4 on the Amiga. They had the functionality of drawing while the animation was playing.Oddly enough, I just installed DPaintIV on my new upgraded A500 yesterday :P
Heard about Commodore enthusiasts , did not know Amiga had a community as well.
I actually like the x1000 but i don't have a spare organ to sell to buy one of those.
Also, dpaint's source went open! https://github.com/historicalsource/DeluxePaint [External Link]
I've been having a daily routine of refreshing the store pages for the Vampire V2 for a while now (managed to put one in the shop's basket at one point, but it was already sold by the time I clicked "purchase"). For now, I've had to settle for an iRIX Labs Classic 520.
Any tips for snatching a V2?

Quoting: subI hope you all with FPS drops reported to the devs. ;)Funny thing is for Black Mesa, I have 144hz monitors (well did, recently upgraded to 4k@60) and I couldn't get it to use the G-Sync on Linux, but it was a solid 60fps the entire playthrough (pre-finishing the last levels, since I did it before those dropped).
It's a beta after all.

Anyhow, it is what it is, if you don't have a VR setup, simply you won't be able to play the game and will be relegated to watching someone else play it on YouTube. Kind of the same thing if I find a game I want to play that only ever came out for the Xbox, I'm not going to give MS my money just for one game, I can just watch it on YouTube.

Quoting: orochi_kyo"Prepare for Half-Life: Alyx"Who needs food or medical care, just jack into VR and your troubles will fade away, as will your waistline! There are already people playing eSports games until they die, at least do it submerged in a different reality :P

Quoting: m-svoI'll have to give it another shot. Game looked interesting. Though lately I've been playing the crap out of Starlink on the PS4 :PQuoting: slaapliedjeI can't seem to get the game to launch. It plays the first logo screen, then on the second I can hear the music, but it's all choppy like it's moving at 3fps, then I end up killing it after waiting for a while. Was going to check if Linux Steam Runtime solves the issue, but the issue is already gone for me. Gnome still may show something like "would you like to force kill the process?" but anyways it goes smooth now.

PS4 version after installation installs another 3.8gb of stuff, and yet doesn't contain the Infinite Dungeons module, and currently will not let you join a LAN game (there were three servers running when I looked at the server list).
On the Switch, with the physical copy, I still had to go to the eShop to download the Premium Modules, which don't include the Infinite Dungeons again...
But at least with the Switch I was able to host the main campaign on my Linux desktop (through the client, haven't tried dedicated server) and join it.
From what I saw on one site, the patch for PS4 / Xbox One is supposed to be released in January. I guess we should probably contact Beamdog or whomever did the console ports to clarify this.
Also need to figure out how/if you can install custom mods on the consoles, since who wants to be limited to the small amount of premium content when there are tons and tons of free content for the game? I Also tried the Android version to join, but it kept timing out trying to connect to my desktop.
Edit: here is the reasoning for missing Infinite Dungeons on consoles (though as I point out, Android has it) https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/comment/1108148 [External Link]?

Quoting: GuestInteresting. I think that earths polar caps will melt before NVIDIA open up their driver. But we'll see what happens in the next year.Maybe NVIDIA will give us a big surprise in conference and open up their driver code:) One can hope that. But in reality that doesn't happen easily.
