Nvidia 375.20 stable driver released, increases OpenGL shader cache size and more
19 Nov 2016 at 1:13 am UTC

Quoting: Avehicle7887Just checked my cache folder and it seems it has topped the 64mb many moons ago, 128mb feels a bit shallow still but better than nothing so Nvidia has my thanks. :-)
The changelog indicates there's a variable you can set if you want to make it larger.

The Talos Principle updated again, new public beta improves their Vulkan support some more
12 Nov 2016 at 12:41 am UTC

Quoting: GuestStill fails to switch to Vulkan… When I select the Vulkan API then Apply, the screen stays black and then the game reverts to OpenGL. So I have to Alt-F4 when the screen is black (at the moment the mouse pointer reappears), restart the game, reselect the correct performance settings, Alt-F4 again, and THEN the game is in Vulkan mode with the correct settings.

Benchmark in Ultra/Ultra/Ultra/Ultra on my GTX 1060 + i5 4690K in 1920×1200:
OpenGL: 62.2 FPS
Vulkan: 81.3 FPS (+30.7%)

I ran each test twice so that the game could cache stuff the first time and each second round was a bit faster than the first one.

I had +60% the last time I tried but that was maybe with different settings.
Are you on 375.10 Nvidia drivers? I used to have this issue but with everything updated now I can switch back and forth in the menu without issue.

'Ballistic Overkill' FPS updated, new UI, new class and more
3 Oct 2016 at 2:07 pm UTC

Quoting: ElectricPrismSigh... I guess modern FPS' have classes now where you deploy with weapon-sets and don't have to strategically acquire and guard weapon spawns on a map.

Totally different mechanically from Halo, and of course old Unreal Tournament had lots of little mechanics that made the game fun.

The Secret to Fun? Game Mechanics, not 10 billion classes or a hundred million units or variations of procedural generated weapons. Maybe worlds but not weapons.

You say modern as if this is a new idea. Team Fortress predates Halo and Unreal, your two examples, and is a class based shooter.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is officially coming to SteamOS & Linux, port by Feral Interactive

Day 1 purchase. I was going to buy it for my Windows machine even but was holding out for the Linux release. I'm a bit sad that they mention Metal support on Apple but no Vulkan support on Linux though... maybe that's still coming? It has DX12 support so I'd think a Vulkan port wouldn't be as hard as a DX11 game.

Life is Strange released for Linux & SteamOS, some thoughts and a port report included

I'm unable to run the game in full screen mode, just get a full black screen.

Nvidia 367.35 on Arch w/ Gnome.

Alienware do a pretty nice job of advertising their Steam Machine & SteamOS in this new video

Quoting: mr-eggthey got dying light the following running that smooth ? What's inside it a quad sli titan x setup ?
Dying Light runs pretty well for me on an Nvidia GTX 760 in my SteamOS HTPC. Had to turn some settings down but that video probably isn't maxed out either.

Needless to say it also runs great on my Arch Linux desktop with a GTX 980 ti.

HITMAN looks like it's coming to SteamOS & Linux

Great news. I'll buy it regardless as I was considering it anyway, will be awesome if it has Vulkan support though. Kind of worried about a GL port as so many GL ports turn out with very poor performance.

A new Steam Client Beta adds new Steam Controller features

Quoting: Mountain Man
Quoting: slaapliedjeI wonder who's fault it is that the steam controller doesn't work in Hero Siege on Linux. It works on Windows, but under Linux the game doesn't recognize it properly and so won't work at all. I'm guessing they need to update their controller detection library. Seems it really only detects an xbox 360 controller.
I have the same problem in Euro Truck Simulator 2. The Steam Controller is only recognized as a mouse and keyboard and not as a controller. The deverlopers told me in early-January that they're aware of the problem and working on a solution but a fix has yet to be released.
Even when launched through Steam Big Picture with controller config set to Xinput Gamepad in the Big Picture menu?

SUPERHOT, the time-bending shooter released on SteamOS & Linux, some thoughts

I tried it out. Ran into the mouse issue though, like it hits the edge if the window and stops working at a certain angle. If they don't fix it within my Steam refund time I'm refunding it, I already emailed support.
