Sweet. Will be a guaranteed buy for me. With the sole (and sore) exception of Bethesda, RPG devs seem to be very Linux friendly these days. I like that! :)

Quoting: Uncleivan"Dead in the water" lalHaha, seriously! Two years ago, I backed pretty much every Kickstarter pledging Linux support. Even if I didn't really care for the game. But just to show support to the platform and the (few) devs who chose to support it. Now? I can't remotely buy every Linux game that interests me with any hope to have enough time to play them all. The equivalent of first world problems! :D
Today i experienced something that i wasnt used to in a very long time.
Im a strategy fan and i had to choose between master of orion and stellaris ; both are AAA titles and both are on linux stellaris won but im not used to having to choose ; in the old days there was one game to pickup not a multitude of them and thats a good indicator linux is in the good path.
Kiss my ass ars technica and mocosoft! Long live Linux!

Stupid question, but do we know for sure that the Linux port will have the Always on thing? For all we know it could be a piece of Windows middleware that doesn't compile in Linux. Not that stuff like that ever happens. :D

I tolerate Steam's DRM, but Always On is a bit much. I don't get why companies still do this, as they now have a pretty much unbreakable DRM (Denuvo). Other than that it looks fun! Glad to see SE really getting into supporting Linux.

Can it really be played well with a controller?

Quoting: Mountain ManJust bought the game (obviously)! :DQuoting: linuxgamer...Linux is the most efficient (also only with controller support?)!Steam Machine + Steam Controller for the win! \o/

Wow, I have to admit that I wouldn't have guessed that correctly had anyone asked me what I think is the percentage of top popular games supporting Linux. 80% is pretty darn awesome!
I am still waiting for my Linux MMO, though. :D

Quoting: QuanTuMI would like to play it but I don't buy censored games, which would not be a problem if it would not have a shitty geolock...I read that in your country they even removed pictures of Hitler and at least some of his generals. That's a little silly, indeed. A game that tries to accurately portrait history should be able to do so without getting accused of glorifying the Nazis. Who did they replace Hitler with anyway? Donald Trump? :p
Why didn't they do it like Dead Island or Dying Light? I just buy my international key somewhere else and can play the game legally like other people all over the world...
Well sucks to live in germany...
Quoting: wolfyrion5mins in the game got lost,Tbh, Paradox games are famous for being super detailed and hence super complicated. If you don't like that, this company's games aren't for you. I love their games for being the way they are...
tried tutorial for another 10mins got lost again = ALT + F4...
I guess another strategy bites the dust... next... :|
Steam Machines are dead in the water according to Ars, not quite

Quoting: Mountain ManINAL, but I can't see how? Price discrimination is pretty normal in business. They could decide not to list any games not having SteamOS at all and I guess it would still be ok. Valve is certainly a major vendor, but unlike Google or MS that are subject to abuse of market dominance scrutiny, you can hardly argue they dominate the market.Quoting: EhvisI've seen this suggested in other places. Valve holds the key to success in their hands. If they wave a substantial portion of their fee for games that have proper SteamOS support, then the amount of money that developers/publishers could save would make creating a good port instantly viable. This could break the cycle.Could Valve do that without getting hit by an anti-trust suit?

Basically sums it up. You can't enter an established market with a new, unproven product and hope to gain any significant share over night.
I don't -quite- agree on the assessment that they are not actually competing against the consoles. They are. Well, I know some hardcore gamers have a whole collection of consoles, but for most the decision will be XB1 OR PS4 OR SteamMachine.
What's definitely true is that Valve needs to push them harder if they want to see them growing. Steam Machines have some distinct advantages over the other consoles. Which other new console ever launched with a library of 2,000 games AND allowed you to just access many games you already own for desktop gaming AND doesn't slap a significant markup on games compared the same game on PC? The PR guys should really exploit that.
