What will you be grabbing this time?
Nothing for me this time, I'm afraid! Like RPGs, deckbuilders simply aren't for me, though I'm glad to see that there's enough to make a Fest for those who love them. That's more than I can say for platformers and maze-chase games!
Not even a Super Bomberman Card Deck Ultra Alpha 2 Deluxe Edition?

NVIDIA driver 550.67 released fixes for VKD3D (Proton), Wayland and more

Did this update solve an issue you were having, or are you waiting on NVIDIA fixing something else?
It has not. I have 5 programs that flicker (the Steam client being the absolute worst) and I am starting to get really sick of it.

Explicit sync patches won't land until the 555 release, which is likely a couple months away. Once that lands, my biggest problem with Wayland will be solved, and we can move on to the second-biggest: Color Management.
The flickering nonsense is very annoying.
But if you go into Steam settings, and turn off GPU acceleration it goes away.
It’s a solution for this transition period anyway.

I bought the newer OLED Steam Deck.

I sold my younger, not very technical, brother my LCD Steam Deck a month or so ago.

Other than explaining it to be “like a Nintendo Switch, but plays PC games” I didn’t elaborate on anything else.

He’s not technical and doesn’t understand why I “have some weird OS on my computer”.

Asked him recently how he liked the Deck:
“It’s awesome, no issues!”

One day I’ll tell him more about the “weird OS” 😂

I really thought Liam would relax and make it to the new year this time without posting a new article.

As a business owner in Canada (HVAC industry), I can tell you that consumer spending has been on the decline throughout this year.

Wars, especially those that effect a necessary resource (oil/gas), raising interest rates and whispering about a possible recession make most of the population a lot more careful with their spending. As you would expect with future uncertainty.

Quoting: GroganYou guys make me feel like an old nerd or something... I've never seen "SHMUP" before lol

(I had to see the list of games to clue in that it was a contraction of "shoot em up"... rather than some new kind of RPG acronym or something)
At first I read Shrimp Fest 😋
I had to read it again, but now I’m hungry.

Quoting: Mountain ManIt seems strange to me that driver developers have to make their drivers work with games instead of game developers making their games work with drivers.
There’s a large amount of duct tape, popsicle sticks, paper clips and bubble gum holding most software together, unfortunately.
