As a business owner in Canada (HVAC industry), I can tell you that consumer spending has been on the decline throughout this year.
Wars, especially those that effect a necessary resource (oil/gas), raising interest rates and whispering about a possible recession make most of the population a lot more careful with their spending. As you would expect with future uncertainty.

Quoting: GroganYou guys make me feel like an old nerd or something... I've never seen "SHMUP" before lolAt first I read Shrimp Fest 😋
(I had to see the list of games to clue in that it was a contraction of "shoot em up"... rather than some new kind of RPG acronym or something)

Quoting: Mountain ManIt seems strange to me that driver developers have to make their drivers work with games instead of game developers making their games work with drivers. There’s a large amount of duct tape, popsicle sticks, paper clips and bubble gum holding most software together, unfortunately.

That reminds me of the days helping out with the LinEAK (Linux Easy Access Keyboard) project to get the extra multimedia keys to work back in the Wild West before everyone agreed on a standard.

Looks like Valve will sell refurbished Steam Decks

But if Valve themselves are doing it, I would expect them to put all the components through the same testing done during the manufacturing process. But I could be wrong.

Quoting: Guestcorrect me if I am wrong, this is what I made up in my head to put some ground under my hate for refurbished hardware. the problem with refurbished devices is not replacement of failed components. the problem is why those components failed. sometimes it is because they were defective, but other times it is because of other defective components that deliver a wrong current somewhere else that eventually leads to frying other components, but not the faulty ones. so you buy one of those decks, it works for a week, breaks again, and everyone's time is wasted. If it were some random repair shop or company doing the refurbishing then I would completely agree.
