I'd venture to say Russia is a confusing country as well..

Magicka 2 Officially Released For SteamOS & Linux

Quoting: EikeThe reviews look quite mixed, mostly due to negative comparisons with the predecessor...
Well the predecessor isn't on Linux, so the comparison is (partially) moot to me.

Magicka 2 Officially Released For SteamOS & Linux

Quite curious what today will have in store myself, but does anyone have anything to say about Magicka 2?
It looks interesting, although I'm usually a single-player kind of guy. I wonder how varied/deep the gameplay will be, anyone gave it a shot yet?

Trine 3: The Artifacts Of Power Officially Available On SteamOS/Linux

A few months ago, I bought Trine 1 and 2, in hopes to co-op with my girlfriend. Wanting to have them both finished before this release, I started ahead on part 2. Things didn't quite turn out that way, because of two reasons:
1. She broke up with me.
2. I bought Victor Vran.

Will surely end up finishing parts 1 and 2 and buying 3 though. Just hope they keep adding content...

Edit:
Quoting: MGOidTheir engine did not work very well with radeonsi driver. A R9 290 have almost the same performance as a A8 APU. Changing settings like v-sync and effects didn't change performance at all. The fps is constantly bellow 30. Another game programmed to work only with the Nvidia version of OpenGL...
Parts 1 and 2 appear to be constantly on 30fps for me, regardless of Catalyst or RadeonSI drivers or settings (yes I tried turning vsync off). This is on a 7850HD, never really tried the IGP. This is enough for me, but surely not the way things should be.

Looks Like Nvidia Driver 358.66 Will Add Some Form Of Vulkan Support

This implies Vulkan is really quite close to release. I guess Valve would like to show Dota 2 on Vulkan at/about the official SteamOS launch.

The sooner people can begin development with Vulkan the better its position against DirectX12 will be.

ZOTAC Have A Trailer To Show Off Their NEN Steam Machine
4 Nov 2015 at 9:33 am UTC

Quoting: sarmadWait a second. GTX 960 or GTX 960m? The difference between the two is day and night. Can anyone confirm it really is the desktop GPU inside that tiny box?
It's not gonna be a 960m, as that one doesn't appear to have HDMI2.0 support while Zotac claim their box does.
Quoting: tuubiA tiny console-sized but powerful PC is and has always been expensive. It's cheaper to build a gaming rig yourself. Duh.
Also, this. I've been finding all the SteamMachines expensive, but I find little added value in the small form-factor or the fact that it's already put together.

Feral Interactive Are Teasing Us, Again
3 Nov 2015 at 7:08 pm UTC

Quoting: ellieferalIt was Alien: Isolation. ;)
...So I'm personally not ridiculously good at figuring these things out, so even after the game was released and you confirmed this I still don't get it. I need an explanation..

(although I've not dug too deep into the game, I fear it wouldn't run well enough on my setup and I don't want to tease myself too much)

Feral Interactive To Livestream Alien: Isolation On November 6th
3 Nov 2015 at 10:29 am UTC

Quoting: ellieferalYep. Worried you might have to watch a bit at work? Don't worry, we'll be at work too.
At work doing the livestream? That's just.. mean...

The Most Popular Linux Gaming Articles For October 2015, 140 In Total
2 Nov 2015 at 9:32 am UTC

Quoting: HoriOne page, 20 is enough, keep the pictures
This.

Also, quite interesting to see that the most popular articles are more about the platform than about specific games.

My personal fav? Alien:Isolation even though I won't get it (at least until I upgrade my GPU). We need big titles like that on our platform.

Sunday Section: What Was Your Biggest Linux Gaming Letdown So Far This Year?
2 Nov 2015 at 9:25 am UTC Likes: 1

Quoting: maodzedunMine is yet another year of AMD disappointment. It seems Crossfire support will remain a dream (which renders my setup useless) and the single driver performance is still crap. It's very irritating considering they virtually closed the gap with Nvidia on Windows with the Omega update last year. It's one of these topics that automatically pisses me off :(((.
Hmm, strongly mixed feelings here. On one hand:

+1 for AMD due to their Catalyst support. Seeing a post on GOL about some fancy new game on Linux, only to read in the article that AMD is not supported or performs poorly.. On the other hand:

-1 for AMD due to their RadeonSI support. At the moment I'm very happy about the open-source driver performance. Victor Vran, Trine 2, Witcher 2 are the games I play at the moment, all of which perform decently with Mesa 11.1. EU4 is meh, Bioshock Infinite a tad worse, so I'll hold off on those until I give Catalyst another go.
