Hey Liam,

Thanks for the write-up :) Sorry about the delay with the Linux version but rest assured, we did not want to delay it but we wanted to make sure everyone would get a good and playable game in their hands :)

The Wine Development Release 1.9.12 Is Now Available
12 Jun 2016 at 6:14 pm UTC

Subterrain from Pixellore is now fully playable under Wine 1.9.12. Only thing that needs to be done is to set "glsl=disabled" in winetricks and the game plays beautifully.

Still can't get Lichdom: Battlemage or 8-bit Armies to run, though...

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiTThat's what I know! But when you clicked on "Download" it was advertised as "Coming to Linux soon!" - now that information is gone.

PS: Yes, GOG Galaxy.
Ah, it says on the main page under the Windows link: GOG Galaxy Client requires Windows 7 or newer. Also available for Mac OS X and soon for Linux.

I am not sure where you saw this "Download" then "Coming to Linux soon!" unless you are referring to a very, very early version of GOG Galaxy when it was in the alpha stage and may have been known as the GOG Launcher. Did you see this link in your library some time ago?

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiTDid GOG drop the linux client of GOG Universe? It's not listed as "Coming soon to Linux" under "Downloads"... :(
If you're referring to GOG Galaxy, we have not had a Linux version to begin with :)

9. Will you release a Linux version of GOG Galaxy?
A Linux version of our client is planned eventually, but we don't have an expected release date right now. Stay tuned for future announcements!

Wine 1.8-rc2 released, brings more stability
29 Nov 2015 at 10:09 am UTC

Is dotnet40 support broken in 1.8-rc2 or is it just me? I got a dotnet40/xna40 game that used to work in 1.7.53 (albeit without sound but whatever...) and now I get mscoree.dll errors :/

EDIT: nevermind, this was clearly a case of user error sooo yeah :P

Quoting: HunterZI'm a bit disappointed at how small the Linux subset of my GOG library is. The majority of my library is probably DOS games, which ought to be supported in Linux as easily as Windows via DOSBox, but for some reason there is no Linux version available.

Obviously I can install them on Windows and move the game over to Linux to run in DOSBox there, but that's not really the point is it?
We have to get permission to make Linux-compatible versions first before we can offer them in such a way.

Wine 1.8-rc2 released, brings more stability

Quoting: ArehandoroCould someone please tell me how did he/she managed to install rc1 with winetricks and make it work? Since last update whenever I try to install a program/game wine complaints saying "bad exe format pathtothefile" and winetricks says all the time "wineserer not found". It's driving me a bit mad, can't seem to find the solution.

I saw on a forum that could be due to a broken link in one of the libs, can't remember now which one, but didn't work for me.
I simply compiled rc1 and rc2 from source and I've never seen this issue.

How are you installing WINE 1.8 anyways?

It already does...for historical and completion purposes :) Check the bonus goodies section on the game card :)
Heh, I'd missed that. I'm not sure how you managed to preserve that digitally, but I guess my physical copy of it wouldn't have much smell left in it by now either.
Well, knowing how those materials were made back in the day, it still has one smell remaining: age :P

We haven't forgotten LSL 7 but if we do roll out Linux support for it, we want to be sure it's done well :)
