It's about time we rechristened anti-cheat to anti-Linux.

Get the Atari 50 collection plus various classic Recharged games in this Humble Bundle

Quoting: Mountain ManThere's actually over 100 games in the collection, plus more are being added through DLC, and that 11GB includes dozens of video interviews, historic photographs, and original artwork and documents. It's more a digital museum than just a simple compilation of games.
I get it, but I would personally completely understand why someone might watch the videos (themselves things that could have been packaged as separate downloads) however many times and then just want to keep the ROMs. Imagine being on a 64GB steam deck.
That's what SD cards are for

Quoting: Mountain ManAs far as I know, there is no way to play the games separately, but the emulation is excellent, so there's no reason to.
11.7 GB for 50 roms? I might want to do something with the other 11.65.

Quoting: emphyDoes the atari 50 collection come with a link for just the roms at any of the shops?

Not interested in all the hoopla that comes with it and would prefer to bring my own emulator. An 11.7GB download (as stated on gog) seems a bit excessive for my use case.
It's an interactive documentary with well produced videos and original documents and artwork that takes you through the history of Atari. I really enjoyed it, but you can skip all that if you want and just jump straight to the game library. As far as I know, there is no way to play the games separately, but the emulation is excellent, so there's no reason to.

Steam purchases now clearly state you're just getting a license not ownership

I honestly feel like a lot of this debate is moot, because there are always less than legitimate ways to reacquire any games you may have lost access to.

Which brings up an interesting legal and moral question: If I have paid for a license to download, install, and play a game on my computer, then does it really matter where I download it from?

If you want to play Nintendo games, then buy a Nintendo console. It's as simple as that.

Quoting: robvvand the only issue I've had is with GPU accelerated rendering, which seems to be a bit unstable.
This is a gross understatement. In my experience, Steam is literally the only app on Linux that may cause a total desktop freeze (no matter on which DE, X.org or Wayland) after which I can do nothing but hard reboot my PC. The only workaround to it is disabling hardware acceleration in Steam.

Also, how about the fact that Steam context menu contents are 95% of the time unclickable. This is an issue since the big ui redesign update and it still hasn't been fixed after more than a year or two. You have to click sometimes dozens of times until game properties finally opens for example.

Oh, and also how Steam was already slow to launch on Linux and since the big ui update it's even slower. And many more annoyances..

I mean don't get me wrong, I have endless grattitude towards Valve for everything they've put into Linux, but you honestly have to admit that when it comes to the Steam client itself on Linux, it's a POS and the forever unfixed issues with it makes them look lazy.
I have not encountered a single one of those issues. Maybe it's a problem specific to your system?

Dual boot and play games in Windows like we did in the dark ages before Microsoft pissed off Valve enough to convince them to create their own escape hatch away from Windows.

Monster Hunter Wilds releases February 28, 2025
25 Sep 2024 at 3:21 pm UTC

Quoting: ZlopezI tried the Monster Hunter World and after first hour it started to feel like just a grind. The start was awesome cinematic epic story introduction, but after that you will get so many confusing things to do and for everything you need to grind your way to it.

If you hope for some epic story like God of War you will not find it here, even the battles with the monsters weren't that interesting. Most of the time it feels like Live service game, but without trying to get more money from you (I can see how this could be easily added to the game).
That's how Monster Hunter games have always been. The gameplay loop is just grindy boss fights. Ordinarily I hate grind and boss fights, but I enjoy Monster Hunter. Go figure.

LEGO games are essentially just asset flips, and yet I find them immensely enjoyable.
