Everything I've read indicates that Rome II is still a mess even after a dozen patches, so I suppose it's no great loss if it doesn't come to Linux. I'm perfectly happy with Empire, which seems to be where the series peaked anyway.

I've been saying for years that Kickstarter and "early access" are basically scams, especially given the fact that there are pretty much zero safeguards in place, and contrary to the best practices of capitalism, the consumer and not the producer takes on 100% of the risk. Furthermore, the consumer has zero recourse if the producer fails to fulfill whatever promises he made to attract funds.

I have never contributed to Kickstarter or early access, and I never will.

What's wrong with Torchlight 2? There are a lot of reviewers who think that it actually is the better game compared to Diablo 3.

They lie. It's an O.K. game but nowhere close to Diablo 3 in terms of innovation. It's too much stuck in the past and plays like an uninspired rehash of Diablo 2. Diablo 3 still feels new and fresh, partly because its core mechanics are amazing and partly because Blizzard hasn't stopped working on it since release.

I was put-off of Elite: Dangerous because of the scammy nature of their early access program (charging something like 4 times the price for the "privilege" of beta testing), and I'm not entirely sure I want to support the developers because of it.
