Stainless Games announce another Carmageddon game, Linux & Mac gamers not happy

Quoting: GuestI'm not really familiar with crowed funding, but if a campaign was successfully funded and the developer doesn't deliver on his promise, can't you get your money back? Like request a refund?
Nope. The almost complete lack of accountability is one of the big problems I have with most "crowd-funding" schemes. Developers can completely screw over their backers, and there's not a thing the backers can do about it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: "crowd-funding" is basically a scam. Spend your money on finished products and not on promises that are too easily and too frequently broken.

Quoting: DamonLinuxPLIf in Techland on OpenGL engine and Linux port working only two young developers, they also have other task in Techland (not only Linux, Linux is only at Free time). Also they currently are studying at university, so we should not be surprised that sometimes there are problems.
That's a pretty shitty way to treat paying customers. I may not have bought the game if I had known this.

Cities: Skylines - Snowfall released

I really don't like the fact that it's not a dynamic weather system. I probably won't buy the expansion because of it. I have little desire to play on a map where it's permanently winter.

Quoting: chris200x9I'd argue that it is a port on the basis that they had to contract out. If it was really platform agnostic from scratch why hire feral? This leads me to beleive it was windows only at least at some point of development, it did have a multiplatform release but that doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't a port.
I don't understand this logic. If the Linux version was developed simultaneously with the Windows version then this would suggest that it's not a port even if it was done by an outside contractor.

Except, this is a port. :D
Can it really be called a port if it was developed simultaneously with the Windows version?

Quoting: Mountain ManAnd I had some guy on the Steam forums yesterday trying to convince me that Linux gaming was never going to happen. Guess he hadn't kept up with current events.
I had one yesterday claiming that it might happen some day. I'm answering those that to me, Linux gaming gives me more to play than I have time for it - it's just a smaller stack of shame.
Another way to look at it is that currently, 1/3 of the Steam catalog is available for Linux with more being added every day. Three-years ago, there were zero! Linux gaming has grown by leaps and bounds in a short amount of time.

I'll have to look into that "Story Time Mode". I don't mind combat in my RPGs, but the combat in Pillars can be stupidly hard sometimes which saps my desire to continue playing.
